AP Poll - Week 6 | The Boneyard

AP Poll - Week 6

UConn stays at #5. Iowa State up to 4 after smoking Purdue.
So...if we hadn't been down 2 starters, we would be #1?

I have some doubts there.

But #1 in early December means significantly less than being #1 in April.

Might be the stiffest competition we’ve seen for a title while we have an elite team. Michigan is mashing everyone. Arizona and Duke with a lotta top tier wins. I don’t know about Iowa State and Purdue but Duke/Michigan/Arizona are elite.

Damn! That Connecticut team wins a lot!!!!
Wild how if you look at the cutoff there, the winners are so much across UConn, UNC, Florida and Nova. 12-21

How many in the top 10 have played most of the season with 40% of their starting lineup out?

This team will be designed to PEAK in mid-march and early April.
I'd be surprised if the winner didn't come from the top 5-6 teams.

I love how Dylan Sinn dropped us a spot to #10 this week.

Absolutely right. There are about 7-8 excellent teams. Iowa St is for real and BYU will be real good. And Kansas has a chance to be elite too.

The teams above us haven’t lost and have good wins as well. If our team was at full strength against Arizona we’d be #1.
I know that, just saying that it is highly unusual

You could be right.
Predicting a uconn-23-january-esque slide when Michigan gets deep into conference play.
I still think we are the best team in the nation when Reed gets healthy. And we have the best tourney coaches.

Everyone was high on purdue... until they weren't.

This is the poll!

I love how any time you see a "last X champions did Y" stat, it is clearly tailored to fit the 2014 team. This had to have been their highpoint in the AP that year (until the postseason)

In regards to us, remember, more than half the teams we faced in the tourney, '23 and '24, were the teams that were gonna give us a terrible time (Illinois and T Shannon were the worst matchup for us??).... yet a great time was had by all.
It really depends on where we finish. If we win tomorrow, I would wager we finish the year as a top 3 team given the BE slate.

I honestly don’t see many BE teams even on the road this year that are going to give us problems unless they light it up from 3.

Id take any finish in the top 10.

Our play in the tourney is a different animal.
And that's not homerism. Id be saying the same thing about uconn basketball if I were a duke, Michigan or AZ fan- "please don't let us get uconn in our region"

Iowa St has no business moving ahead of Uconn in the polls after beating a stupidly overrated Purdue team.

Like a well trained race horse, I like our current position at no. 5. We will be there in the end.

You don't think curb stomping Purdue in Mackey by 25 and being undefeated is worth the jump? Meanwhile also passing the eye test. This the same Purdue that throttled Texas Tech and beat Bama on the road. It was a toss up to me, but don't take this one too hard. Who cares.

I think we'll have difficulty when we visit Seton Hall just because.

We would definitely been #1.

Good wins for sure but those teams have 2 Ls already and imho going into Kansas and winning close beats going to Purdue and winning big.
