No real changes in top 11. OSU moves down 3 to #12. WVU +4, Cal -4.

OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: Nebraska 35, Creighton 28, Mississippi 9, Utah 9, Vanderbilt 9, Oklahoma St. 5, South Dakota St. 2, Harvard 2, Mississippi St. 1.

Interesting that K State moved up one. If they’ve lost Ayoka Lee for the season, I’m not sure they should even be a ranked team anymore. That’s how huge a loss that would be. But I guess we’ll have to wait for the next poll to see how the writers react to this development.

KState moved up becausie voters want the Big 12 to get one team in the top two seeds. If Lee is really out, their voters will go to TCU

Lol I see you're back with your pet theory again. I can assure you, this factor was as much on the voters' minds as the average temperature on Mars. Unless of course you were one of the voters, in which case it was on the mind of one voter.

K State moved up one spot as a result of Ohio State moving down. As they say in Spanish, no hay que buscarle cinco pies al gato.

If this were the committee rankings, we might get this bracket:

1 ucla v 15 Okla / 7 tex - 10 kan st
4 usc v 13 UNC / 6 ct v 11 ky

2 scar v 14 Duke / 8 Md v 9 tcu
3 nd v 16 wv / 5 lsu v 12 Ohiost

To me there are only two questions. First will UConn be a 2 seed or lower? and secondly which of the 1 seeds would want to be in their bracket? I do think if UConn win out (beat South Carolina) they will end up in the top 4, if not I don't see an argument that gets them there. UConn still seems to be a work in progress which is fine but the end of the season isn't too far away.

Even if UConn wins out, it needs someone above to falter. Losses @ ND and vs USC at home mean it would be extra hard to jump those two.

W @ Tn / L @ SC -- probably a low 2 seed (eg 7-8), depending on margin in SC game.
2 or more losses -- 3 seed or lower

The only faltering I can picture would be USC losing to tOSU. I mean, they could lose once or even twice to UCLA (3x?) and it still might not knock them off the top line for the tournament. But a loss to tOSU would have to weigh against them. And if it did, there's no guarantee LSU or Texas might not sneak in.

Next to this, all that stands out as a possibility is ND losing to Duke and NC State, and I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

Yeah, even beating SC is not likely to get UConn to the top line.

K State won't be dropped due losing Lee by unobservant voters, but may lose some games now without her, thus dropping, and of course now making TCU the Big12 favorite.

Lee was recently playing reduced minutes, so KSU has developed some other players. Probably won't fall out of Big12 top three...and rankings.

UConn if it wins out still has a chance at that fourth #1 seed. (UCLA, SC, ND and ?) Even if we lose 2 more, don't think we fall off the #2 line.

All the top teams still have big games against each other in conf & conf tourney to pick up losses.

MD loses a key player to ACL then gets absolutely smoked by Texas and they stay the same ??? If that were us they would have dropped us at least 3 rungs down the ladder.

Seeing Minnesota and Michigan in the top 25 got me all hyped. For us Gopher fans, this is huge. We are going to ride that train until it falls off.

There is plenty of games left in the season, so I am not too worried about seeding right now. UConn will be fine. The team is peaking at the right time. That Lady Vols game does not worry me anymore, after watching Tennessee struggle against Vandy. It is the South Carolina game that worries me. But overall, there is plenty of games left in the season for teams to move up or down.

UConn will be a big underdog at SCar. I expect them to win at Tennessee, though.
Underdog yes , "big"? - probably not. I don't really care if they win THIS game just make it close. The important matchup with SC will probably be later.

Did you see what SCar did to Texas and Oklahoma? UConn is way better than OK, but Texas is pretty good.

I agree that a loss won't hurt much in the broader picture and that it is important to make it a competitive game.

I'm curious what the line will be on this SC game. UConn in a rarity will be the underdog. After a couple of years of injuries, excuses and losses, Paige, Azzi and Aubrey will be highly motivated for this game. Sarah gets it, and her key freshman competitor Joyce is on the other bench. No guarantee of a win in Columbia, but UConn will not be TX and OK.

Jeeeze, that makes no sense.

We’re just starting to gel. We’ll be fine. Lots of options now.

Seems like the consensus is a loss @SC, so the concentration rightly so should be on a win @Tennessee and that should keep us a 2 with a winout including the BE championship.
Good thing Chris Berman [of ESPN football fame] is still around, so he can say, "...that's why they play the games!" I am NOT part of the 'consensus' and estimate the majority of the over 60 crowd {particularly the ones much older} who have been UConn fans since the 1995 first NC are also NOT part of the 'consensus'.

Just let this edition of the Huskies play their best! I think their [Huskies!!!] best gets them to the NC game, and while they are there, they might as well win it!

Go Huskies!!!

Nice Gato, except for what looks like a third back leg [cinco = five (legs)] with what looks like a miniature Yeti face near its three 'toes':D:cool::eek:

My guess is that this feline will get more traction on snow and ice.
New Michelin Yeti-toe for all season 5x5 performance.

'Home of the Yeti' may also be the last missing mascot. Could be reserved for future Eastwestern Oregon Downstate program looking to jump quickly into D1.

I've been a fan that long and I'm not part of the consensus either. I hope I NEVER have to believe a UConn loss is inevitable.

Excuses? Please elaborate?
