UConn remains at #2. NCSU and Oregon drop out. TCU up 8, Duke and Iowa up 5, ND down 7.

Others receiving votes: NC State 58, Georgia Tech 33, Stanford 28, Tennessee 16, Oregon 15, Florida St. 14, Richmond 13, Mississippi St. 11, Vanderbilt 8, Baylor 6, Utah 5, Harvard 4, South Dakota St. 4, Creighton 3, Minnesota 3.

LSU is too high and ND is too low. But we're entering into the "prove it" phase of the rankings. As theoretically great as ND probably is, with those two losses they now have to prove it. LSU hasn't really proven anything, though the win against NC State is pretty good and the squeaker over Washington is sort of embarrassing for a team that aims to contend. Otherwise, it's been cupcakes as far as the eye can see. Fortunately, they'll get some chances to "prove it" soon.

Also Duke should probably be ranked higher than USC. They have a seriously good win against Oklahoma, another against K State and one loss to MD when they were super hot, and USC has only the one quality win, a squeaker against Ole Miss, and of course the beat down from ND.

The Irish will host both the University of Texas, and UConn over the next ten days. Regardless of their two losses down there in that Cayman Island tournament, that team is still very capable! I sure hope that they take it to the Longhorns; kinda get it out of their system!

All the teams for this time of the year are about where they belong. In the next 10 days , the cream will still be high and the pretenders will drop.. Hard to judge the top teams in the beginning because of all the cupcakes played. When we get to the meat of the schedule and start playing the better teams, then we see who deserves the high rankings. I'm confident UCONN will not falter in this endeavor. This is their year. GO FRESHMEN!!!! GO SOPHOMORES!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!

Curious why the voters that voted UConn #1 last week, and UCLA # 1 this week, changed their mind. Or did they just go with the flow? UConn beat a legit team last week, and UCLA beat 3 teams with triple digit NET rankings.

UConn was #2 in last week’s AP poll, #1 in the USA Today/Coaches poll

I believe that this is the third time that UConn and LSU have been at the same tournament and it always seems like LSU is in a different bracket. It's like Kim is avoiding playing UConn unless she actually has to, like meeting up in the NCAA tournament.

This AP poll points out the brutal OOC schedule that Geno assembled. I doubt any other school can match it.

Seven of the top 22 ranked teams are on our schedule: #'s 3, 6, 10, 16, 18, 20 and 22, and that doesn't even include our old friend, the Vols. Of course we have already beaten 2 of those teams (the only loss for both of them).

Guess my question wasn’t clear. UConn got 9 first place votes in the AP poll last week (out of 32), and 7 first place votes in this week’s AP poll (out of 32). So a couple of voters (at minimum) changed their mind about UConn versus UCLA for # 1. Given the results from last week, with UConn beating Ole Miss, and UCLA beating triple digit NET teams, seems like a strange flip by a couple of voters.

Nan, BigTenGuy was inquiring about the two AP voters who voted UConn #1 last week, but defected to UCLA this week.

Apologies - I'm still (slowly) recovering from an upper respiratory infection and my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton

I don't know about the AP poll, but in the Coaches Poll, UConn dropped to #2, only 3 points behind #1 UCLA. Both teams picked up first place votes after Notre Dame lost; UCLA just picked up more. I suspect something similar might have happened in the AP poll - that more voters saw UCLA in the stronger position than the Huskies. No worries, it will all shake out in the end.

There's someone on Reddit that shows how each voter voted. I put the UConn votes on a spreadsheet to track them. The Dec 2 poll analysis hasn't been posted yet.
