I played HS soccer freshman and sophomore year. We went undefeated both years (freshmen and JV). Varsity coach was a real jerk and I had no desire to play for him and I was also getting involved in the local hardcore punk music scene and turning into a real knucklehead, so I didn't bother trying out. Now I'm not saying it was because I left, but the same group of guys never came close to being undefeated again....... Also in LL, I think last year of majors, our all-star team got far enough to get to some big regional tournament. We were down 1 run in the bottom of the 8th. I hit an RBI single, then stole 2nd. Next kid had a solid hit and I went for home, but they got the ball in quick and I should have been dead to rights at the plate. The throw home was slightly short and the catcher moved a bit forward to catch it. I was sliding in on my right side with my left leg extended, but he caught it and swing around and had his glove there in front of the plate well before my foot got there. This all happened really quick and without thinking and was all just one fluid motion, but as I was sliding, at the last split second, I somehow moved my foot around his glove to the right, bent my leg back to the left and tapped the plate with my toe to score the go ahead run. It felt like the coolest thing I had ever done in a baseball uniform. Unfortunately, Garrison Beale donged it all up in the top of the 9th by dropping a routine high fly ball to center with 2 outs which allowed 2 runs to score and we lost.
