When Shabazz and Lamb were walking off the court, after Shabazz had to call timeout when he dove to the floor, he gave Lamb a little shove. Napier seemed pissed, but I think it was more of a "come on! lets go" kind of thing.

Not sure if anyone else saw that. Not sure what to even make of it. Any thoughts from anyone else that was at XL tonite?

I was at the game and I think Bazz was mad at Boatright for not coming to get the ball when Bazz fell down.

That's what I was thinking too...don't know why he shoved Lamb though.

Doesn't seem to be a big deal but was weird after that timeout Napier came out and took bad 3.

i think bazz needs to stop worrying about who isnt coming to the ball and worry about passing the ball when we need a shot with the clock winding down instead of chucking up trash

Yeah, it looked like Shabazz was overly pissed at RB. He shouldn't do that, that is Jim Calhoun's job and he does it well. I was glad to see Jeremy step in and control the situation. Shabazz makes some good plays and then makes really poor choices, (hoisting up bad shots). Honestly, I think Jeremy has the most potential to be the leader of the team, by example and through his play.

Unless I'm confusing plays (possible considering I already told myself I was going to sleep but am still too happy with the win to do so), I was under the impression that Shabazz was pissed off at the very clear foul that the refs refused to call for whatever reason. I saw Lamb step in and thought he was simply trying to keep Bazz from getting a technical for being pissed off, even though Lamb looked pretty pissed himself (which I assumed was at the refs and WVU player for practically tackling his teammate). I didn't see Bazz shove Lamb, but given the context of the situation I would assume it was more of a "I'm pissed off at the refs, f--- that I got tackled!" type shove while getting up and walking toward the bench pissed off... rather than something that was meant to be directed at Lamb.

I could be wrong but I didn't get the impression he was pissed at either Lamb or Boat... just pissed at the refs and his teammates were trying to chill him out, which can often result in shoving a teammate not intended to be directed at them. Again, if I'm thinking of the correct play (which I'm pretty sure I am, regardless of being overtired), then from the TV replay it was very clearly a blatant foul that went uncalled, as the commentators pointed out.

On a side note, it then seemed as though the refs had a makeup call on the next possession when the ball clearly went out on Oriakhi under the WVU basket and they called it out on WVU.

I think he was annoyed at the non-call on an obvious foul across the neck/shoulders out in plain view of the refs.... that and when he spun and lost it no one came quickly enough.... but all in all, i don't think there's much to read into this play... yeah, he took a bad shot, but we ended up winning and he played a pretty decent game tonight getting everyone involved.... i'll take him not scoring with 8 assists and a W over bazz with 20 and an L any day of the week.... I continue to say that we are a better team when he looks to run the offense rather than score... he'll find the happy medium where he gets his 8-10 while dishing out 6-8 assists, but right now I think he's in between scoring and running the show...

Refs knew they should have called something on that play, and clearly made up for it when the ball was out on AO. Although AO might have been fouled earlier in the same sequence

Agreed with regards to less scoring and more running of the team. I really think switching on/off the point with Boat made a big difference in running the team efficiently. Playing off the ball some must certainly reduce some of the mental/physical fatigue of playing 35-40 mins at the point.... which ultimately results in poor decision making, etc. Not to mention Boat seems to be pretty d*mn good at running the point, once he gets past the common freshman mistakes of over-penetrating, trying to do too much, etc. (all which Kemba experienced his first two years) I think he'll be terrific at the point. He can obviously play off the ball too as he can definitely shoot the ball, so it seems like he and Bazz could play well together switching on/off the ball like Bazz/Kemba did last year. I've mentioned this a couple times in other threads... but am just really excited at the fact that the team seemed to play much better together with Boat at the 1 more than he has been thus far this season.

Husky711 is right. Napier actually was testy with a ref after that play, and players were trying to calm him down.

Not so sure the Oriakhi call was a makeup. It was the wrong call for sure, but you often see refs giving the ball to the wrong team when a rebounder is being jostled from behind like Alex was.

AO call was head scratching. Good for us but what a blown call at such a critical moment. AO wrap up the damn ball next time!!!

I was at the game and wasn't sure what was going through Bazz's head there. We was likely emotionally bubbling over for a few reasons. I think we was a little mad at Lamb who initially was coming toward Bazz to help out with the pressure and just as Bazz was about to pass him the ball, Lamb pealed off down the side line. Bazz almost double dribbled and quickly tried to reverse the ball when he was shoved to the floor. It looked like he might have begun to lose his balance on his own, but the WVU player certainly helped out by pushing him w/out getting a call. And possibly he was hoping that Boatright would be there for some help on the other side but was not there. That I can't recall.

Who knows which reason or reasons it was, but I like that the team was playing with some fire in they bellies the last 8 to 10 minutes of that game, something we hadn't been seeing lately. I hope those last 10 is something they can build on and not revert back to the lack-of-intensity & confidence we've been seeing.

You're right. Shabazz shouldn't be pushing players heading off the court. That's Coach Calhoun's job. ;)
