Anyone been to New Orleans lately?

I went to the Endymion Ball in 1998. Jerry Springer was the Grand Marshal and KC and the Sunshine Band was the entertainment. Make sure you’re well-rested. They serve breakfast.

Got back this afternoon after 3 days in New Orleans.
Endymion Extravaganza was a blast. They were back in the Superdome for the first time in 5 years due to off season renovations they had been doing. Katy Perry was better than I expected. 75 minute set, no dancers. Just a five piece band. I assume everything g nowadays is pretty tecorded and lip synched so whatever. She started at midnight. Train followed and started around 2am. I thought they sucked but everyone else in group liked them. Livvy Dunne was Grand Marshall.
Security was everywhere all over the city and there were large industrial trucks of every type to avoid repeat of New Year's.
French Quarter was fine. Nothing too crazy compared to year's past. Restaurants were busy but getting a seat wasn't an issue.
Crowds for the parades were fine. Even the smell of weed didn't seem as bad as year's past.
Otherwise, looked like business as usual. We went there three weeks ago for NFL Fan Fest the day before the Super Bowl and traffic was way worse.

So glad you had a great time. New Orleans is truly a magical place. Most importantly, where did you eat?

The only real meal we ate was at Deanie's seafood in the French Qtr. Food was great and service great too. I had an oyster po boy which was the longest po boy sandwich I've ever had. We had a table of 11 and there was plenty to sample for charred oysters, ettoufe, red beans and rice, etc. Everything you would expect from a Louisiana seafood joint.
When we were in NOLA for the Super Bowl Extravaganza a few weeks earlier we ate at Mulate's by the Convention Center. Food was good, service sucked.
