Anybody know why we have pump fake fever?

Do you remember Sam Young on Pitt? His pump fakes were Ridiculous.
He had a unique way of doing it where he would rise onto his toes while simultaneously pump faking; the defender would bite, and he would just blow by.

Exactly, that's how you do it, Dwyane Wade is known for his very convincing pump fake too. Some guys do it so poorly its just like STOP already, no one is buying it! Roscoe Smith used to do it whenever he got the ball at the top of the key, it was like step 1 in his brain: quick pump fake, okay that did nothing.

You really need to pretend you are starting your shooting motion, in the whole body. Guys just think its putting the ball up, but that will only fool the weakest of defenders. Look at the rim, concentrate, get your legs pushing your body up, but then stop and move around, works so damn well

So chief has it all wrong. We don't need a big man coach we need a faking coach. A pump faking coach in particular. Would be ideal if that coach was a great recruiting coach. He could fake players into coming and when they get here teach them to fake plays.

UNC and Cuse employed it. They extended the principle to fake classes.
