OT: Anybody here ever been to the DCU Center in Worcester?

Hey, we're going to a show at the DCU Thursday night (Evanescence) but know nothing about the place. Wondering if they have a coat room- I'm in the pit and would like to get rid of my coat! Also, don't know if they let people in the building early....we don't want to stand out in the cold for too long...any help appreciated!
 
Been there for a lot of Phish shows back in the day. No coat room that I'm aware of and typically they allow folks to enter a couple hours before show time. That should help w/. the cold. Have a good time.
 
I've been there a fair amount of times. Don't remember any coat room. Why would they? Does the XL Center have a coat room? Gampel? Can't remember anything like that at any arenas of this type of size. There's a garage directly across the street (Major Taylor Garage) and the entrance to the DCU Center is less than a block away. I'd suggest wearing a light jacket and sprinting across the street to the entrance of the DCU Center and leave the winter coat in the car.

No idea how early the building would be open before the show but I'd say generally buildings like this open up at least an hour before the stated starts times.
 
Is this a replacement for the old Centrum, where the Charley V led team in '05 has an epic choke against NC State in the second round (although my heart still wants to say that Ed Nelson drew a charge on Hodge at the end, and no way that was a blocking foul)? Or was the Centrum just renamed?

Isn't there an opening act? I assume if you are in 'the pit' you don't need to arrive at any particular time & can mosh your way to whatever spot you want. Trick would simply be arriving when most people aren't to avoid door screening delays = while opener is playing.
 
Leave the jacket, take the Jägermeister
Suck it up. It's as if you've never walked across campus on a cold winter night without a jacket because you lost your ride or got kicked out of a party.

Yeah there’s two. :( I have VIP tickets so I do have to check in early but they haven’t told me when yet. As for moshing to the front, I’m to old for that and am trying to get up front.
 
It’s a nice smaller arena. Like the Dunk in some ways. Parking isn’t bad. There is now quite a bit around it in terms of bars, breweries etc. Worcester has really made some Strides. You may be able to leave the coat in the car, some parking is close.

Saw The Who there in 1982 Its Hard Tour when it was The Worcester Centrum. Plenty of parking available. Nice place to see a show.

I prefer to remember it as the place where Vermont knocked off a plucky Syracuse squad in overtime.
 
They built the Centrum with concerts in mind.

Evanescence??? Still around??
I remember their hit in like 2003 with the singer falling from the building in the video....

Saw many concerts there in my 4 years of college in Worcester. I remember sleeping out for U2 tickets in near 0 degrees. Remember when you had to sleep out for concert tickets?
 
I went a few years ago for a Wolf Pack home game. If the XL was actually as beat as the haters here say, it would be the DCU.
 
Yes. Went to see UConn in the NCAA tourney. Standard arena in a mid-sized city. XL...Dunk...Webster. Coatroom?

Yes still around….a few albums later. Band changed a few years ago but Amy Lee still running the show.
 
The only reason I asked about coatrooms is because the casino has one, and the last half dozen shows I’ve been to are at a casino. Spoiled.
