I've zeroed in on the dreams part of this thread for some reason.

Funny story, I always thought this song was Hall & Oates. Well Dan Hartman wrote it for them, but they had just released a record so weren't able to record it at the time. So Dan went ahead and did it himself. It just sounds like Hall & Oates.
