holy cow what a funny play that was. i'll have to find that on youtube for everyone.

Question...

Why did they tackle him instead of letting him run out of his own end zone for a safety?

poor dude..

There is no way back from what he did. 20 years from now people will be watching clips of the Kent State guy returning a fumble the wrong direction.

I'm with Mets - sure the kid screwed up, but why the heck were they tackling him for BEFORE he got to the endzone.

double fuckup!!!

On SportsCenter they pointed out that not only was Towson trying to tackle him, but the Kent State players actually started blocking for him! (Watch the end of the clip) Too funny!

That is absolutely hilarious. What an epic play.

And the refs screwed up on the play as well, they went back and called it dead since you can't advance a muffed punt. But technically they didn't advance it. #1 Not Top Ten Play for the rest of the year I bet.

That is the best part of this. If only he had fumbled and a Towson player recovered and ran the other way for a Kent State TD.

That would be a Towson safety.

If the refs really called it back, it just goes to show how the assumption that other people know what they're doing can really mess people up.

I bet Malcolm Gladwell could write a 10,000+ word essay on this one play alone. Make it a chapter in the revised edition of Blink.

Spoke to my Father-in-law last night about that play. He thinks the officials got it right. Ball is dead at the point it is recovered.
