If they win today, they will make their 28th straight Sweet 16, breaking a tie with Tennessee.Am I correct in assuming that if we win tonight we will set another record as well?
1994-2003 first round wins were at GampelWere all 28 wins played at Gampel?
Bridgeport was briefly a home court for Uconn. There was a year when the men and women played a game there for the S.CT fans. As I understand it that disqualified Bridgeport for being a regional site as the NCAA had decided regional sites had to be neutral.1994-2003 first round wins were at Gampel
From 2004 tournament NCAA went to 'semi-neutral' first weekend pod sites (eight teams per pod, but the two sets of teams were mostly from different regions, 6 games, 2 teams advancing the the regionals) so
2004 and 2005 games were at Bridgeport
2006 was in State College, PA
2007 was in Hartford
2008 was Bridgeport
2009 went back to 16 sites but not based on top 16 teams as 8 sites had been pre-selected and 8 additions were added including Gampel where Uconn played.
2010 again 16 sites but pre-selected Norfolk, VA
2011 again 16 pre-selected sites Gampel
2012 Bridgeport (not sure how Uconn swung this one as they were top 16 team home courts)
2013 forward at Gampel
The Pod site was a NCAA competition decision to try for more neutrality in first weekend games - arenas bid for the right to host 8 teams for six games over a weekend - they were not that neutral - Bridgeport being an example. Generally attendance sucked and after 5 years they went back to 16 sites but kept their commitments for the 8 sites already selected for 3 more years.
Final answer 4 times at Bridgeport Harbor Yard, 1 year in Hartford, 1 year at State College, PA, and 1 year at Norfolk - so 21 games at Gampel and 7 elsewhere.
Another significant milestone for a program that has re-written the record books and is the standard upon which all other programs seek to measure themselves again against. Agreed. No other women's basketball program can match what Geno has achieved with the women's basketball teams he has had over his career. There will never be another coach that will equal his records. I will say that Pat Summit and Tara Vanderveer comes close. But, that's it. The game tonight gave me the closest I have felt to palpatations of the heart but they prevailed. Bring on victim No 6. GO HUSKIES!!!

I believe KY got away with using their men's team home arena one year for a women's tournament bid - can't remember if it was for a regional site or a pod site during that disaster. On page 25 of the NCAA Regional Bid document it says a team can be assigned to the Regional that they have played no more than 3 regular season games at.
Host Institution Site Assignment. For regional competition, a team may be assigned to a regional site where their institution is hosting, provided the team has not played more than three regular-season games, not including conference postseason tournaments, in the arena. Serving as a regional host shall not preclude an institution from also being selected as a first- and second-round host at their on-campus facility through the non-predetermined site selection process.
Actually, Lexington Rupp Arena hosted the Regional 3 times- 2016, 2017 and 2018. Kentucky was sent there in 2016 as #3 seed and made it to the Regional at Rupp. In 2017 they were assigned in that region as #4 seed but were eliminated in the 2nd round. In 2018, they were not put in the Lexington Region.I believe KY got away with using their men's team home arena one year for a women's tournament bid - can't remember if it was for a regional site or a pod site during that disaster.
