OH SNAP! Now I have another sport to try and get my daughter into so she can play @ UConn. Let's just say she's not great @ basketball.
Fear not, Rugby is not a scholarship sport - so unless you are looking to increase the cost of her education (they run on donations) maybe you can let her skip the rugby practices!OH SNAP! Congrats to the club!
I played some rugby during a school year in England and it is insane - the non-stop action and full field running of soccer, combined with the physicality of american football, with a bit of 8 on 8 organized train wreck thrown in for good measure. Best part of the game - the pints down the pub after it was over!
Nice - have watch some great test matches myself and the All Blacks were very impressive! Hadn't seen that Lomu had died - he was amazing. We lived in New Zealand for 2 seasons in the mid-90's and if you were to get your fill of sports, you watched Cricket, a bit of Aussie Rules, Netball, pronounced nittball (which is a disaster of a game), and Rugby, which I grew to enjoy thanks to the Rugby version of our UConn Woman...the All-Blacks, led by Jonah Lomu (who unfortunately just passed away).
I remember many happy weekend hours sitting in the hot-springs at Waiwera (North of Auckland) watching the monster TV set up over the pool, the steam rising and the NZ trys coming.
A most happy memory.
My robust youngest son was determined to be a prospect and was steered towards a Rugby factory middle-school, but fortunately escaped to St. Thomas, fifth Ave, to become a choirboy instead.
