I believe the Christmas holidays ( family get togethers ) played a major part in the latest surge. Those effects have already been felt. Postponing the season for a month will have little more effect than is already happening through canceled games. At least some games are being played. This new variant is basically an unknown factor. For all we know the major surge might his after the postponment irregardless losing the games that would have been played during that time. There is a big difference in making up a portion of postponed games and doing so with every single game. There are logistics that also play a part which have nothing to do with a teams ability to play due to health. Its just better to play the games you can now and get them out of the way. That way they can decide what actions are necessary and feasable at the end of the season. You can always chose to extend the season to give time for games canceled.

I feel wbb is easier to get less cancelled games and still determine if a team is worthy of a ncaa bid or not. Let's be honest, after the top 20 and that is even being generous there's no difference after that. You'll never see the 64-68th team in Wbb go on a final 4 run, in the men's side that could happen.
