I disagree... Yes Chen is a solid veteran player, but Lucy is a BUCKET! We've seen it TWICE the past 2 years. If she's willing to accept fewer minuets and improve her draft stock...we should grab her. Especially losing 2 PGs next year. I would worry more about KK now - than Kelis later.
I bet USC is in the mix as well. Keep in mind that they had several " grad student" players on the court with JuJu. They have to move on and be replaced.

Olsen has only one year of eligibility left, she is a Junior this year and next season will be a Senior. She is the class of 2025 who is not eligible for the COVID year. Students that were playing in 2020 are the only one's that are. That means that Paige's class is the last to be able to play past their Senior year.

And this makes Olsen more not less attractive to us. If we had no roster limit concerns over the next couple of years, of course we would prefer 2 years vs. one, but any player we add now that has 25/26 eligibility potentially limits who we can pursue from the 2025 class. A one year rental does not. Having said that if the player was good enough and a big (Beers) it might be worthy trade off, but even then if Kiki became available she would be a much better option for just one year.
Paige doesn't need a waiver because she didn't play at all in the 2022-23 season. You apply for the medical waiver to get a season back if you've played in a small number of games at the start of a season before suffering a season-ending injury. From an eligibility standpoint, Paige simply took a year off. Paige has 6 years to play 4 + 1 Covid seasons. Next season would be her 4th in 5 years, so she'd have one more after that.
It is rumored that Hailey Van Lith made more money in one year with LSU than she could make in 5 years at the WNBA max so I think in her mind it was worth it. I think Kim made a huge mistake trying to make her a point guard while sitting a top recruit that plays point. Now both of them are in the transfer portal.
Money isn't everything. She needs to have a really good year next year because last year really diluted the value of her stock after college. At her size, she has to play point in the W and did not do well with it this year. She averaged 38% from the field, 33% from the arc, and less than 4 assists a game as a point guard with Reese and Morrow on the team and averaged 11.6 ppg, 6th on the team as a returning 3rd team All American.
I dislike the ideology of Iowas basketball program. You literally had the all time leading scorer and still didn't win it all, and you're going to go back and do it all over again by getting another top 5 scorer?? I love my Uconn be cause team basketball and quality trumps individual accolades

You might want to rethink the last line of you
Nobody is touting Olsen as a another Clark, but she is the type of high volume, reasonable accuracy shooter that the Iowa offense has been built around. Versus any identified alternative, of course she moves the needle somewhat on Iowa;s prospects, she also is coming from a very well coached team that has the same style as Iowa, and may upgrade their defense a bit also. Can't imagine a better match. Clark is over, time to stop talking about her except in the pro context
