No question. That omission will be definitely corrected this year. I do not think that we have even seen most of what she is capable of.Azzi might be the best player, in her senior year, yet to be named as an All-American.

While sophomore Azzi was pretty good, I think we’ll get an entirely new Azzi, let’s call her “grad student Azzi.” This version of Azzi is a stronger, confident version of the old Azzi. This version will consistently makes plays in clutch situations and serves as the unwavering team leader of the 2025-26 Huskies.Which Azzi will we get this year? I’m hoping it’s sophomore Azzi, the one who exuded the confidence to carry the team for the first 6 games. She scored 140 points in those games including a pair of 32 point efforts against NC State and Texas. She outplayed Caitlin Clark when they played Iowa. Whatever the team needed, she provided it. When I look at this video, I think I see signs of that Azzi. It’s who we saw in the final four, MOP Azzi.
Azzi the shooter, the defender, the ever-present threat who forces opposing teams into lopsided coverage to account for her. This is who I’m rooting for. I’ll wager this is who Paige will bend every effort to support behind the scenes.
Sophomore Azzi wasn’t just pretty good. In those first 6 games she was regularly mentioned in the “way-too-early” NPOY discussions. There was reason to hope she’d put together an all-time great season. I don’t think we saw her again until last season. By the middle of February, Azzi was the problem opposing coaches had to game plan for. The UCLA game was like a microcosm of the season for her. She scored 19 in the first half and in the second half Cori had to focus her defense on Azzi, which unleashed everyone else. Something similar happened in the final too. While sophomore Azzi was pretty good
It seems to me that by taking and making 3-pt shots some 6-8 feet behind the 3-pt line, Azzi is getting away with a much shorter run.........🙄
