Junior Lauren Buschmann of UVM is out for the rest of the year. She was probably the Cats top player, averaging 15 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

Knee injuries to players on top teams get lots of attention on message boards but that's not the case for teams out of the spotlight. I wonder how many ACL injuries happen every year in wcbb. Does the NCAA track injuries?

Yes. I don't know how much is made public however.

Here is some data that was published a few years ago based on 16 years of NCAA data, showing ACL injuries as a pct of all injuries and per exposure (games + practices). There is a big difference between the women's injuries and many of the men's sports (football, lax, wrestling, hockey) in that almost all women's ACL tears are non-contact injuries.

Marquette has one player out for the season with an ACL injury - sophomore Courtney Thomas. And sophomore Katie Young (hit the big 1/2 court buzzer beater against Villanova) missed the first six games this season and saw limited minutes at first as she was recovering from an ACL injury she suffered late last season.
