Things changed when we stepped foot into Big East physicality, Big East officiating, better coaches and actual Big East players. Complete brawls and our “out of town” , transfer portal guys aren’t used to it. Reminds me of that old movie “ My Bodyguard “. And our coach is a “Nice” guy to the players it seems. Bad combo

We have no guarantee we will make the tournament so Hurley needs to make adjustments, on defense, hustle, attitude to get better from this point forward. We’ve had a wake up call, the BE expert prognosticators we’re wrong about the leagues talent level. Let’s admit that. Every game is going to be a battle and there can be no taking nights off. I have read stuff on this board about how our opponents are so inferior to us. That has to stop because it’s BS.

What happened in the stands perfectly encapsulates this tipping point: when they threw the shirts out the arena jumbotron panned to a couple of teenagers pushing each other over a shirt. Really close to blows.

Yeah I always thought was BS. There are a lot of teams that start the season hot in OOC tournaments then get humbled in conference play. Having said that I was disgusted with today’s game against a mediocre team like St. John’s.

The talent is not the problem. I have been saying that since Hurley wouldn't play Carlton more.

…it was all good just a week ago
And it can be good again. Jeter put his last game out of his mind even if he K'ed 4 times. That's the mindset Danny has to promote, also to get them from playing tight in crunch time. Psycological more than physical with this team.

Agreed. I’m just worried because none of our losses have been close. We haven’t been in “crunch time.” None of our losses have been possession for possession. They are over by then.

I happen to think all of them in the regular rotation are capable of playing 20-30 minutes a night, if used within their capabilities. Certainly Hawkins, Karaban, Sanogo, Clingan, Jackson, and Newton should all be able to give you that. Again, when used correctly. The scheme can't keep asking them to do things they've shown they struggle with.

It would help tremendously if there were a true point guard with the ability to penetrate and find open guys, however.
Yup. It called putting players in positions to be successful. Danny is a knucklehead “identity” coach. “Play harder” is neither a game strategy nor in-game tactical adjustment. I feel badly for the kids because they are getting fed a lot of hot air and I suspect they know it. When Danny moves are not working time and time again, and you hear the same BS, faith wanes in the leader.

We were in one possession games against Xavier and Marquette with 2.5 and 1.5 minutes left.

Those games went from 1 possession to down 10 swiftly. There was never any shot for shot down the stretch.

I hate it when I get spring ankle
Yeah, but spring ankles make it easier to hop back on the bandwagon when we start winning again.
