that's a great number and typical of a weekend afternoon in Hartford. The Hartford MSA has 1.5M population and greater proximity to the more populous Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, Litchfield, and Hartford, Counties in Connecticut. A Uconn game of a Saturday afternoon is a batter and more centralized draw. I imagine the Hartford restaurant community and local parking businesses were happy too....

This is why the XL Center, for all of the (very fair) criticism it receives, is often better for Uconn than Gampel.

Except I paid $10 for two bottles of water. That part sucks.

Noon on a nice weekend day may have had a lot to do with the attendance. Of course there has been a significant uptick in attendance this year. Home games are averaging over 9700 fans and that's nearly 20% over last year. UConn finished 6th in attendance in 2015. So far this year I think they have moved past Louisville, Iowa State and ND into 3rd place behind UTenn's declining attendance and USC's soaring attendance ($8 tickets).

Captive audience. 12,046 other people did their civic duty by supporting Uconn WCBB in Hartford County weekends. You bought a ticket and paid for parking and water, so thanks for being #12,047! :)
