Hmm. A record of 2-30 in conference. Did they consider CViv?

I need to do some research on her history but my first impression is that Donovan is a coach who could not, or would not, keep a job. Lots of moving around in her past and this is a stark contrast to Coach T. I'll be interested in learning the back story on her career but its hard to see this as a "permanent" relationship.

OK WNBA Gurus.... please tell me I won't hate myself in August for the grand I just spent on my season ticket renewal.

Coach T haters... is this an upgrade in your eyes?

No idea, but clearly Seton Hall was going nowhere. How long was Donovan there? She had zero recruiting success, and didn't lead that program anywhere. In fairness, i'm not sure even Geno could ever elevate the SHU program would he ever have a brain aneurysm and decide to give that job a try.

Coaching SHU would likely give him a brain aneurysm.

Geno would only end up there if it was assigned as penance.

Surely there are some assistant young coaches that deserve a chance and IMHO would do a better job. So many of the pro sports just hire retread coaches, instead of giving younger coaches an opportunity. IMHO not a great hire by the Sun, should have kept Thibault.

My hope is that Donovan's shortcomings are in recruiting, which won't be an issue with the Sun.

Can't see this as a good thing, or a step up. (or even a step sideways).

Good thing I don't follow the Sun that much.

Is this the same Ann Donavan that got so much praise when she signed with Seton Hall?

WNBA title, gold medal (with Mike T on staff)....she's proven to be successful.

Big fan of Kara Lawson. Has worked very well with posts in the past.

Did a nice job with the Liberty when elevated to their head coaching job midseason and took them to the playoffs.

I'm not saying better than Mike T, but I am saying it's a justifiable move by the franchise.

Indeed it's a step up - Donovan is a fair amount taller than Thibault
Are you saying that as a coach she stands head and shoulders above Thibault?

Donovan's strength absolutely includes working with post players. I think she can be successful with talent.

Better than Coach T?
- problematic at best.

I never understood the circumstances under which she resigned
from Seattle. That seemed like a pretty good gig. Why would
she quit?

She probably didn't. We will never know.

This will be an interesting story line during the WNBA season.

Not really sure how all this will sort out but I am somewhat surprised.

I guess we will know by summers end.

Not really sure that's an upgrade, but they could have done worse, I guess.
