Ann Strother Added to 3 X 3 Team

I read where Ann did participate in the tryouts for the team. However, I don't understand this move by USA Basketball. Surely there is a younger player who is still active that could have joined the team at this late date.

Its great for Ann that she is still involved in the game

Best I can figure, she's in Colorado and was already working out with the team when they lost Thomas for some reason with little time t0 spare.

"Inaugural event" may also indicate a certain lack of draw for USA players and/or lack of organization and outreach.

Glad to hear Annie has been active with the game.

I think it really is probably a logistics problem - the timing of this event prevents the WNBA players from being involved and college players are already ramping up for classes/captain's practice

Last night, before they head to Athens today, I spoke to Travis Johnson, USA Basketball's head of the 3x3 program, and:

Chiney Ogwumike
Skylar Diggins
Bria Hartley AND
Ann Strother.

It was so good to catch up with Ann, she sounds great, and is busting her behind trying to get in game shape to keep up with the young'uns in a 12 second shot clock game!

I think the addition of Strother and the absence of Alyssa Thomas has more to do with logistics and Strother's availablity than anything else. I don't think Geno had anything to do with adding Strother. Plus , Strother had practiced with the squad during initial 3x3 selection and training.
