Our one foray into using an Angie's List recommended contractor was not great. The guys did OK work on some water damage, replacing a big chunk of ceiling and wall. But they were cutting stuff on our Corian kitchen counter and left gashes, nor did they clean up especially well - left a lot of sanding dust behind.
