2. Kevin Ollie's debut was so impressive that it's hard to see him not getting the fulltime UConn job for at least three years. I will be surprised if a decision isn't reached by the first of the year at the latest. Ollie needs to be able to recruit and show commitment. UConn athletic director Warde Manuel said that the recruits go to a school first but they need to know who the head coach will be before they commit. Ollie's presence and demeanor in practice, at a kids clinic, with the troops and officers at a dinner, was just as impressive to Manuel and UConn president Susan Herbst as the result of beating Michigan State by playing his hard-nosed, defensive style.
Hopefully having the press clamoring him will force Warde's hand.
