A recent Yahoo mock draft of the Top 10 had Andre at #2.

I just don't know that he likes to play basketball. I wouldn't take him in the top 5, that's for sure.

High risk, high reward. But when you can go back and try again a year later, it's a risk you'd be stupid not to take.

He will be a beast in a few years. He makes AB (Lakers) look uncoordinated and slow and he left out of HS and basically rode pine for most of two years and got paid to do it- not a bad gig.

No more biatching. Good luck AD and thank you.

Best of luck to him. We knew it coming as we did with JL.

Time to move on.

He was a man among boys in college. With refinement and skills training he will be awesome. Good Luck, Andre!

Best wishes for Andre. like everyone else, i hope he becomes a beast in the NBA. UCONN is one of the best schools in terms of alums performing in the NBA. we are usually in the top 3-4 in the fantasy leagues. hope Andre helps that continue...

I wish AD well. Still not sold on his talent yet. But hey, if u get the chance to make millions without playing the state lottery; go for it. Good luck, AD. Once a Husky, always a Husky.

The part about Bynum is silly, Bynum may not be as explosive as AD but he's also a good 2-3" taller and at least 50lbs heavier and he still moves great for his size. Wouldn't call him uncoordinated either, AD can hope to have Bynum's post moves one day.

Anyone know if he will count towards our APR (word is he is a great student who would help our numbers)?

He wasn't a scholarship player, so I am assuming that he will not be included in our APR (Otherwise, if walkons do count, we should have all of the Dean's List students be official walk-ons on the team!;))

Hope he has some good coaching and turns out as well as Bynum with a better attitude.

He does not count against the APR. Jeremy can. He needs to stay in good standing into May.

I wish Andre the best of luck, and Jeremy as well and thank them for what they have done at UConn. They are probably doing the right thing for themselves. I hope they have tremendous careers and uphold the image of the university well at the next level.

So with the information we have this looks like potential starting day lineup. Wow not great unless some of those bench players move into the starting lineup. We will be deep though even if the quality is only average. Does anyone know how many scholarships we will have next year? 11 or 13?

Starting Lineup
Position Player Height Year
C Tyler Olander 6-9 Jr.
PF Roscoe Smith 6-8 Jr.
SF Niels Giffey 6-7 Jr.
PF Shabazz Napier 6-1 Jr.
SG R.J. Evans 6-3 Sr.

Backups
C-PF Michael Bradey 6-10 So. Could Move in Starting Lineup Replacing TO
SF-PF Deandre Daniels 6-8 So. Could Move in Starting Lineup Replacing NG
PG-SG Ryan Boatright 6-0 So.
SG Omar Calhoun 6-3 Fr. Could Move in Starting Lineup Replacing RJE

I suspect Drummond will be in the NBA D-League next season. He's a long way from being an effective player at the next level and needs playing time an NBA team can't afford to give him unless it's Charlotte which is basically a D-League team anyway.

Yes, I read the other Thread about it. Forgot that Nate Miles will still hit us next year. I do hope that DD steps up and OC is a legit freshmen. Even if MB doesn't step up we should be pretty good with depth if those two are legit and everybody else improves at least a little from last year.

I can't see any conceivable way Evans starts over Boatright. Well, let me rephrase that. I can see Evans starting and playing 10-15 minutes spelling Shabazz and Boatright throughout the game, but as far as the lineup that will get the most minutes, he's behind Boatright and likely Calhoun as well.

Gotta hope Obekpa signs with us. There will be plenty of minutes there, and it will put us in pretty good shape for 2013-2014, possibly for a last hurrah for Jim.

Obekpa will likely play in the Big East, but it won't be for Uconn. Cincy, St. John's or PC.

He will not be in the D-League next season. That's not how the NBA works.
