OT: Andre Drummond (Drummxnd) drops an album

You're not old, you're right. 90% of hip hop music nowadays is average trash that all sounds the same. Remember the 90s when Tribe sounded absolutely nothing like Wu and they sounded nothing like Mobb and they sounded nothing like Nas and he sounded nothing like Biggie who sounded nothing like Jay who sounded nothing like DMX and yet they were from the same city rhyming on boom bap beats. Today rappers from all over the country pretty much have the same sound and flow. Very few exceptions.
The overwhelming majority is trash now. It's fun to turn some of the youngsters on to guys like Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, KRS One etc., LL... they look like they're hearing real rap for the first time. Put this song on for any of them to show them what 90's NYC rap was about and their eyes get wider...

Oh man!!! I haven't heard that in years!!! This is a great example of just how incredible the 90s hip hop scene was. I guarantee even hip hop heads from the 90s outside of the north east never heard of SDH lol Dude was nice as F and never really got the shine he should've because there was so much great stuff out then.
On a side not he worked with a lot of rappers behind the scenes writing and producing. He should be a better known name. I completely forgot about him till seeing this post. good stuff

So true

Kid should have spent however many hours he was in the studio shooting free throws instead.

He actually improved quite a bit. Went from comically bad, to simply bad.

40% to 60% is a pretty significant improvement.
