whatever DT has

That would be: "watch me now and be amazed" wherever she has played. People set up, she's coming, she's coming, I got her...Oh, Merde.... Get educated. It's all over the internet, from US, Russia, Turkey, wherever ... she's the one. Maya...she's 15/16ths.

Way back in the most distant past---there was a kid named Diana (DT for short) --tough as nails. Punched the hoop uprights in Tenn--shouted loudly she hated ORANGE. When she was in the game--most of us Uconn believers knew Uconn could not lose that game.
In game after game, with little in the way of supporting cast (in her latter career) she put the team on her back--almost physically---and made impossible shot after impossible shot. Being bounced in almost every game for 3 years with a bad back--she was a ping pong ball--every pass through say the Tenn team she gets a hip from one, a shoulder from another, a trip from another--. She made impossible passed backwards over her head to an open player. She was amazing. The instant pass , after getting a pass, to another player was patented by DT--you have to pay a royalty to use it Yet there are things Stew ie does that DT couldn't do
However ---I speak as a heretic , DT's alone carrying the team --we have not seen Stewie need to do that. Maya was forced to carry non scoring teammates into the final four--and failed. If she had just one to take the defense off of her--another victory.
Stewie is all everyone says and more. If she is ever asked to carry the entire load of winning against a top 3 team---she may properly be declared the absolute best ever at Uconn.. DT could have used Moriah and or Tuck.
Without Stewie it is extremely doubtful there would be 2 or 3 of the current National championships---but Geno being Geno that is not a guarantee.
And I wasn't a DT fan!!! Because I could read lips. I believe in doing not speaking of some things
Nice ... but ...
I think it has been a fallacy to say the 2003 and 2004 teams were the 'DT and DTettes' - those teams had some solid talent on them as can be seen from the pro careers of many - Moore 9 year WNBA career, Battle 6 year WNBA career, Turner 4 years, Strother 3 year, Crockett 1 year (count em, 5 other WNBA players on the team)- and add in the 'PG who could' Conlon, and the support of the Valley sisters and you have a really solid team surrounding DT. She was the rock star and when she left the magic left with her, but it was brilliant play in spots by others on that team that allowed her to win the last two NCs. Moore on a torn ACL controlling the paint, Crockett doing her Miss March/April impersonation, Conlon proving you can be short and slow and still take care of the basketball, Turner reprising Elliot's exploits, Strother hitting big shots, and the Valleys enforcing the law when things got a little too chippy.

We elders, ahem, must pass on the camp fire songs history of UConn WCBB. UcMiami is pointing out some of it. But, sometimes some of it gets hazy. Morgan Valley was a promising star laid low by acute plantar fasciitis - really, really bad. The steroids they gave her were as bad as the disease, and she was left a supremely intelligent baller with no ability to play, but still a superb team mate. Ashley... well, she could never reign in her emotions and threw her talent to the wind. At least, that is the song we sing around my camp fire.

I did not watch UConn WBB back in the DT days (although I have watched some of the game replay from back then), and I watched the game Maya played, but I think Stewie is a better all around player than both. She definitely makes the game look very easy even w/o the pure athleticism of MM and whatever DT has. I can't imagine what the last 3+ years of UConn WBB would have been like if Stewie had gone to Syracuse instead :)
Stewart is fabulous, and with her height and length, unique. Maya was fabulous at Uconn as well in a shorter, stronger, more intense way. DT shorter still with less strength than Maya, but more magic than either Maya or Breanna - completely undefinable, a 'you know it when you see it' quality.
Stewart never wants to lose, Maya wants to beat you, DT wants to dance on your grave while flipping the bird at all your mourners (and then party with them at your wake after the game - no hard feelings!)

Love all three and they are all three very special players that we have been privileged to watch grow at uconn. And the best quality they all have in common is that they produce moments in seemingly every game where you just go WOW. You don't want to blink when they play because you might miss something you didn't think was possible on a basketball court.

Much of what you say has the ring of truth to it. Comparing Stewies supporting players---the last 3 years, Steff, Tuck, Moriah, KML, Stokes
To Anne Strothers, an iffy 3 point shooter, who faded in pressure situations--love, nice girl, but not ready for the pressures of Div 1
BT way undersized, Crockett never lived up to the pre Uconn notices, Moore mostly a project one good year, Valleys--nice kids but Morgans feet were constant problems, her sister had only one good game. Conlon a very good point guard, 3 ball shooter, foul shooter--much underrated. Battle, out long time with stressed elbow, and not much after recovery. But a Battler.
Good kids --some played above their talents and size. But none compare to Steff, KML, Stokes, Tuck, Moriah, --or probably KLS or Collier or Chong. Point was ---Stewie won't be tested until singularly she is forced to put the total burden on her back to win It came close to that her Freshman year--but still she had lots of people who could have supported her--defense had to be aware of KML and Moriah . Moriah's defense and that of Stokes was better than DT ever had.
During their time they were good--without DT they won no NC's or at least in BT and Crocketts case no final 4's --
Again I'm not a huge DT fan--as a person--but you cannot deny her talent and what it meant to Uconn. Even DT says Stewie is the best ever --I guess we'll agree to dis agree. I doubt you could disprove much of what I said about what DT did with a bad back and being a human ping pong ball or how she made improbable shots to win games. Geno told the world--we have Diana and you don't... He didn't include DT's supporting cast as a caveat did he??? Has he made the same announcement with Stewie???

Morgan was an assistant in Baltimore--and coached here during the CAA tourney--she got us tickets and we sat behind her bench--we've always loved her personality and desire. Her feet was and is an issue. Her sister had a baby and (according to Morgan) bought a McMansion in the DC area (I think).

Mis-tear Cohan vas a talent frum Providence, Rhode Hyland... He vorked his vay to Broadvay, he didn't just ketch ha cab.
Maybe you are tinking of Georgie Jessel?
I'm not sure what you mean===I don't remember saying George M Cohen was from NY--I said the song was a Broadway hit (from the show called MARY) in the early 1900's up to about 1925. George M (not W) produced about 20 musicals during those years--writing many of his own songs (lyrics not always). What has Georgie Jessel to do with the song Mary?? I guess his mom and dad never worked vaudeville with him as a child---or he didn't play Peck's Bad Boy as a teen in a road company?? Must be 2 different elephants

Morgan was DT''s devilish soul mate. Do something nasty to D and if Morgan could play you would pay.

Cohen is a Jewish surname denoting the person is derived from the Priestly class of the Temple in Jerusalem.
Cohan is a variation of the Irish Cohane, an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Cadhain.

A past Mayor of Dublin was Cohen (none of the variations you suggest) and he was pure Irish as George M. Cohen.
Cohen, apparently, may have been shortened within the last 100 years for ease of spelling and for ease of viewing
when running for public office or entertainment.
What does that have with my original posting about the song Mary???

Yes... and the quite popular Jewish mayor of Dublin was Bobby Briscoe (Irish Republican Army (IRA) and Sinn Féin during the Irish War of Independence and Éamon de Valera's escort to America). Truth told... You can't tell your players w/o a score card.

Not all changes were a personal preference. Sometimes the Ellis Island scribes behind the counter took it upon themselves. My Great grandfather got to America as Israel-Moshe Krutapesach... He left Ellis Island for Hartford as Morris Karp.

Great analysis UCMiami.. Not sure why the rush to declare who is the best. Stewie can definitely do more things with her height and reach. DT was the best under pressure [witness DT against Tennessee in the final 4 in SanAntonio]. Maya was Maya. That's why Tennessee fans still hate her so.
I'm just happy to have been able to view all three at UCONN. Let us relish watching Breanna for the rest of this year.
