So long, Big East. It was a terrific run, ultimately stopped by greed, shortsightedness and stupidity.
As one who broadcast UConn's first BE game (December 22, 1979, an easy win over Seton Hall at the Field House) on WHUS, I'll never forget this league.

My freshman year on campus. Sat on the floor baseline for that BC game where Bagley scored around Corny T to win it. This will really sink in next January when we start the conference schedule with who knows what.

And notice what school was focused most prominently in the ending montage, Ray in '96, Taliek in '02, Ben in '04, and Kemba in '11.

As it should be.

Of course, which school was not allowed to participate?

I mean even the announcers are better. Bilas, raf, and McDonough. Trying to watch PAC-10, Walton is the absolute worst. ;)

It makes me sick that we are not part of this last BET. It sucks it is UL that won the BE this year. It really blows. I really hope we get our get out of the jail free card soon. I am already tired of this new conference we are about to be part of.

One of the reasons the conference changes have accelerated is the economic meltdown. Presidents are thankful that all this is being taken out of their hands, rather than having to put up with alumni and boosters. The last thing they want is to devote increasing resources to sports in a time when they are eliminating programs and shedding staff.

Anybody have any footage of the ending montage?
