whether its 2nd or 3rd or 4th and short the answer is not to pile up 22 guys in a 5 yard area and try to run thru it.
this isn't 1950. spread the players out and run behind your best side of the line.
its inexcusable to have multiple 2nd and 3rd and shorts and not convert them.
and if they are so confident in this ridiculous wildcat we continue to run for the past few years, why not use it on those huge plays... just makes no sense. if thats the bread and butter niche that we have, use it on your most important plays or scrap it.
