Purely hypothetical but fun to think about during this exam lull.

Here are the two teams to compete against one another, both starting lineups comprised of players whose names have appeared on one or more All-American roster.

BLUE TEAM
Odyssey Sims, Stefanie Dolson, Breanna Stewart, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Bria Hartley.

RED TEAM
Meghan Simmons, Chiney Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Elizabeth Williams, Kayla McBride.

Backups? Jefferson, Tuck, Banks for the Blues. Lucas, Gray, Graves for the Reds.

I am sure I missed some players (e.g., Hooper, O'Neil, etc.) Divvy them up as you wish.

Could be a good competitive game. How would you bet?

Blue wins. Flip Sims for Simmons..then possibly Red.

Though, for Red, I would start Sims, Gray, McBride, Thomas and Ogwumike.

Marie---- So would I. Although Chiney could be put at the forward position and Williams put in for defense.

Kibs-- It seems like this thread is just a rehash of an earlier one where the question was ask how people believed Uconn would do against an All Star Team of collegians. The only difference is that you added Sims to the UConn side. Then you went and handicapped the All Stars by putting Simmons on their team. Simmons is basically a shooter who adds nothing to a team if she is not on one of her hot shooting streaks. I would rather have Shoni who while also being inconsistent does have a lot of other aspects to her game that can contribute. If you are looking for shooters their are plenty around that would be better than Simmons and wouldn't destroy ball movement and offensive chemistry by their play. If Simmons went to the Blue team she would never see the floor.

Kibs- There is only one ball used in a game at one time. Who would play the point on your version of the Red team? Simmons? When you have a team of very good players who are all capable of scoring it is paramount that the ball is distributed so as to make the best use of all the players available to create a balance in scoring. Too many fans are entirely too in love with scoring guards who give the appearance of being point guards just because they have ball skills and control the ball the majority of the time. They are basically just ball dominant shooting guards. I believe point guards should be distributors first and scorers second.

No offense to any Vol fan, but not on this universe, or on any other universe would Simmons start over Gray

Of course Im a bit biased.

I'd but my money on the blue team.

I agree. I am biased, too. That's why I stacked the deck and grabbed Sims and stuck the Reds with Simmons. Hey, this is supposed to be fun, isn't it?

Put Simmons on any team with equally and greatly talented opponent and her team will lose.
