True, but he kept the ball high (huge for a big man new to the game0 and his blocks usually stayed in bounds... also seemed to have surprisingly good body control -- although generally lacked explosion. I hope it was chronological because he seemed to be more athletic in the later games...
 
I thought the same thing, in the latter part of the video, he just appeared to be much better..

Also, the celebration after the last dunk gets me every time.
 
He was pretty quick with those moves along the baseline. Good to see that he did not take a shot from more than 5 feet from the basket. There were no shots of him shooting free throws...hmmmmm. That would be interesting to see. Rail thin, but seemed to get in and mix it up some. He held his ground (i.e. not taking fakes) and was patient in blocking shots. Has good timing with shotblocking. Might have a bit more difficulty some other tall players on the other team. I'd say he has some promise!

Fairfield Prep wins 75-72 over East Hartford tonight. Chukwu is something else. Refs handed Prep the game though. 1 of the worst high school officiated games I have ever seen. Kahari B. had three free throws with 12 seconds left and hit 2 to cut the lead to 73-72. Chukwu fouled KB on a three pointer fouling him out. EH would have won in OT.

First time seeing Chukwu. I do not think he is a project offensively and defensively he is more than a menace. Beautiful arc and form on the free throw. This guy is a true impact player. Unreal...
 
Without really knowing much about them, my impression was that Chukwa was the better prospect. I wonder is signing Brimah makes it harder to sign Chukwa. Bluedoghouse or others, how do they compare?

I would like to know the answer to this this also. I know Kahari is high on Uconn. But based on his Youtube vids (i know just vids) I don't like his game too much. I never get to see Uconn recruits play in HS bc I live in the Northwest so the only way for me to judge their game, through videos.
 
AB doesn't look like a project type player. He looks very comfortable on the floor and seems to get his points both out of the offense and on put backs.

Hard to see if his defense timing is good on these highlights. He doesn't seem to leave his feet too fast but who knows. Until he faces higher caliber players...we'll see.

A very good sign is he doesn't dribble after getting an offensive rebound. He keeps the ball over his head and goes back up. That can be a hard thing to teach. So it's a plus for AB.

Funny video, laughed more than anything else. Looks like Kareem against those teams. Thanks to Palatine for finding the positives.
 
I'm cautiously optimistic he'll be able to contribute.. but as we saw with Nolan/Daniels and many others, these guys can look lost when they first get here regardless of skill level.

Last night I sat on the E Hartford side. Behind me was the family that Kahari is living with. To the right of me was a gentleman who arguably is the closest to KB. Last night after learning a lot about Kahari Beaufort I found myself rooting like h*** for this kid. The family who he is living with are the nicest people you will ever want to meet. Humble, down to earth and wonderful people. Kahari Beaufort has a story to tell. I was told he will be returning to EH High next year for the purpose of maintaining stability in his life. He will play the AAU circuit per the usual in NYC this summer.

KB had 3 fouls at the half and picked up 2 very quickly in the game. KB did not log many minutes in the 1st half. ALL THREE fouls were ridiculous and clearly NOT fouls. KB kept challenging Chukwu in the second half. Chukwu blocked several KB shots. As a matter of fact Chukwu is a human eraser. I never had so much fun watching a HS player with such great shot blocking skills as Chukwu. Chukwu's on court demeanor was off the charts.

Back to Kahari. Beaufort is definitely a D1 player no doubt. He needs to stay in games mentally. KB has tendencies to lose focus for stretches. Through out the course of the game especially due to foul trouble the "KB crew" constantly screamed out at him not put himself in position to pick up his 4th and 5th fouls. He was clearly being "jobbed" by the refs and had to adjust his game which is hard to do.

I can not think of a player that may need Kevin Ollie more then Kahari. The return on investment for KO could be a gold mine but it does come with some risk. If there is any coach that could get the most out of Beaufort it is Kevin Ollie. After meeting everyone close to KB last night I would love to see the kid get a chance at UConn. Now I am rooting for the kid.

He is D1 and could be a solid BE player under the tutelage of the right coach. I am biased towards CT kids and now like KB therefore let the record show KB & KO is a combination I want to see come to fruition.
 
Definitely shows potential. Moves well for his size.
At least in the video, seems to play within his abilities (doesn't try to do things that he is not ready to do).
Does still look quite mechanical on offense and defense. Glad to have him as a Husky, but I wouldn't expect too much his freshman year....but could be very good by his junior year.
Perhaps a redshirt candidate next year?
 
Even though he was playing against little people there are certain things you can tell. He can block, he has touch around the hoop and can make a layup. We have had a number of big men that a layup was an adventure. I like what I saw, he'll be a finesse big guy, no way he can bang at this point.

You could say that about most 17 year olds.

I hope that people have realistic expectations for this kid. He'll get some minutes (and maybe not all that many) but he's not our post salvation by any stretch of the imagination. (Think Phil Nolan's development this year.) No knock against him or what he might someday become. In the meantime though, someone please get him a protein shake.

Yes, but we won't be in the Big East next year.:(

With a few exceptions, he will be as big as most guys he faces. The bigger concern, since we will be a mid-major, is that the man he is guarding will be a three point shooter.:eek:
