It was just a great game with two very different teams both scrapping it out. Their inside guys are STRONG but even though ours don't have the offensive skill or strength, what we had was tenacity, grit and heart, ten toes in.

What do you think of adding a BB only like VCU or another BB only ?
I've been killed on this board for suggesting this. But I think it would be to the benefit of Basketball first schools like Memphis and UConn.
They don't want to relive the agony of BigEast football vs Basketball .
With Temple,VCU ,Cinn, possibly Houston ,SMU,or UCF it a decent conference every year. It's also 100miles from DC.

I want a b-ball only to offset Navy...VCU would be great but I doubt they would leave the A10 (UMass, St Louis, Richmond, Dayton, St Joes, etc)...now if the BE takes two more...VCU would reconsider.

We could get WSU from the MVC right now...easy trip for Tulsa, SMU, Memphis, and even Cincy.

Another option...Army football only...and UMass for all-sports....12 all sport members...14 football members

The problem I see is that the college sports landscape is driven solely by football. Everything else is secondary, or less. Adding non football schools does nothing for the conference from a BCS football perspective. I don't disagree that adding some traditionally good hoops programs would be great for the hoops fans, but I just don't believe that would be considered... Just my $.02...

I guarantee you none of us would turn down the money that men's basketball makes for many schools. It's not on the level of football because the NCAA keeps a bigger piece of the pie and the bb pie is distributed among a larger number of schools. But it is significant.

If a college basketball cartel were formed similar to the football cartel events might have played out differently. But it was harder to form a bb cartel because the number of decent and competitive bb teams was much greater than in football. Numbers of players for these respective sports was the background for this.
