I really don't know squat about New Brunswick or Piscataway, but culturally, you'd have a hard time tell Stamford residents they're not proximate to NYC. Especially older ones. Pre-cable, we only got NYC stations. Channels 8 and 3 were nothing but snow. Everyone read one of the three NY dailies. And you could get from Stamford to Shea in 45 minutes into the mid-80s. Which I believe was faster than taking the subway from Upper Harlem to Shea.Sure, but that train ride would take about the same amount of time as it would take to go from UConn Stamford into New York. You're pitching this notion that somehow New Brunswick is proximate to New York. It isn't.
