They were invisible ???
Took their tape to fix the 3-pt lines ?????

Blazers took em on a road trip??
Another super-fancy artsy Oregon court ???

Yes, rule change. No more restricted areas in women’s hoops

Actually, I believe that the rule change (adopted before the season, not during the season) is that the restricted area has shrunk to the diameter of the basket. A secondary defender standing exactly under the basket can still not draw a charge, but normal charge/block rules apply everywhere else.

Maybe one of the basketball lawyers on this board can confirm that.

I was glad that the mini arc was not there for the women's games.

Good riddance. How many fans and players understood or even knew about the defensive box rule?

How many refs did? They screwed it up all the time.

Yes, they were on most courts because they are shared with men, who still have the restricted circle.

The announcers actually often explained that they didn't apply in the women's game, whenever a block /charge was called that would have been otherwise had the arcs been in place.

It just might be that you are remembering the court exactly as it was before the NCAA Tournament. The court floor decals are changed to display the NCAA logo at center court and the March March Madness lettering at the baselines. The decals for the key, paint, and three point lines are also changed. Advertising decals may also be removed or changed. I believe that decals may ordered as an entire court floor or half court. When they changed the paint decals the arc was not included in the new decals. This also explains why the three point ares on each side of the court had different dimensions and nobody realized it until post installation. (The three point area snafu is discussed in its own thread.). I hope this makes you sleep better.

I heard they stop using them because they wren't able to mark them in the same place on both ends of the court!
Makes you wonder. I bet it was wrong several times but nobody caught it.

The 3 point lines may have been correct for last nights game, but the white shaded area was different on each end. I have to imagine that was somewhat distracting, at least for some of the players.

And then we find out that the differential was 9 inches making the 3 point line absurdly close. How do you miss by 9 inches?
