Nice to be able to have debates like this. Of course there is a time factor here, hence the DeLorean.
sure hope you'll enjoy a meal of nice roasted crow!Winning NC's? I'm just praying to get thru this season (and subsequent seasons) with no more injury collateral damage. I know for most UCONN fans it's NC or bust, but that ship has sailed. With all the talent and great teams out there, we aren't sniffing a NC any time soon. It remains to be seen if we can sport a team that is health AND talented enough to compete for one, but as of right now, that's just not realistic.
When? You really think we have a shot this year? No way. Next year? depends who leaves. But UCONN fans have been spoiled and NC or bust is pretty much what they expect every year. It's time to start adjusting expectations. Getting in the top 10 and a nice run in the NCAA's is as good as it gets in the near future.sure hope you'll enjoy a meal of nice roasted crow!

everyone has a shot until -- what -- april 8? april 1?When? You really think we have a shot this year? No way. Next year? depends who leaves. And by the way, should we win this year, bring this post back and not only will I eat crow, but humble pie as well!!!![]()

Allie is bigger and the better shooter. No ”shade” intended toward Shade, she is looking like a major find!More or less same person, just different name![]()
You might be right but its different against bigger, faster and better college players than against High schoolers. We'll just have to see.Allie is bigger and the better shooter. No ”shade” intended toward Shade, she is looking like a major find!
Morgan is a total package. Should be inside top 5 of her class, if not higher.I know this is between Shade and Ziebell but you might want to add Morgan Cheli into that equation.
This year seems like not likely. But sometimes the teams that would give any team a problem get eliminated unpredictably . Beyond this year who knows. We don’t know who is coming back. We don’t know what Jana will bring to the table as well as the other newbies. We don’t know about transfers in. Lots of fluidity from year to year these days. When? Cf. LSU last seasonBut sometimes the teams that would give any team a problem get eliminated unpredictably .
I think your comments regarding Jana, Ayanna, and Ice are pretty spot on. I have high hopes for Jana too, and like you my expectations for Ayanna and Ice have been lowered. They might be good, but based on their #4 and #5 ratings, so far they have disappointed. If you add Caroline to the possibilities, all our potential bigs have question marks as to how good they can be, and all of them have had injury issues as well. There isn't a a single sure thing player you can count on for next year but lots of hope, and quite a bit of potential if many things turn out the way we hope. At least with Ice by the end of this season, we should have a clearer idea. Our back court and wings look more than solid for next year and beyond. Our potential problem for next year is if AE and Aubrey leave for the pros and Caroline retires.
That leaves our 4/5 spots to Jana, Ayanna and Ice, all of whom will enter the year with a history of leg injuries, I have very high hopes/expectations for Jana; high hopes but far less expectations for Patterson (based on what she showed last year); and a greatly reduced level of hope and expectation for ICE based on watching her so far this season-I know she is returning from an injury but as a fan who expected her to start at the 5, after Jana's injury, I clearly had hoped for better from her, and I think we will get it as she get healthier.
Geno and staff, assuming the possibility of AE, AG, and CD moving on, absolutely need to add size to the roster, either via a late top-level HS recruit or a "Dorka-like" quality portal addition. Relying on 4 starters averaging around 6 ft will win us a lot of games based on the super level of the players, but not a NC.
Can you say "Addition of Big Forward or Center via the Transfer Portal" !!!Our back court and wings look more than solid for next year and beyond. Our potential problem for next year is if AE and Aubrey leave for the pros and Caroline retires.

I assume the first two will go pro. I have no idea what to expect, or even to hope for from the third. Our potential problem for next year is if AE and Aubrey leave for the pros and Caroline retires.
Our estimation of what Jana Ayanna and Ice can accomplish will go way up if Sarah Strong decides to come to Storrs. Keeping my fingers crossed that she realizes what an incredible opportunity this is for her, since she'll be in the rotation practically from day 1... on an NC contender. That doesn't happen everyday. There isn't a a single sure thing player you can count on for next year but lots of hope, and quite a bit of potential if many things turn out the way we hope.
Three of our injuries, Fudd, Ducharme, and Patterson are basically carry overs from last season.Winning NC's? What makes you think she's that good? Not disagreeing - I've seen videos and what not - certainly to me a top 10 kid, but not knowing what other talent is in that class, top 5?Morgan is a total package. Should be inside top 5 of her class, if not higher.
Leadership, can post up, shoot 3's and play point. She is excellent in all phases of the game. A bigger Sabrina Ionescu. She is more advance than Sabrina at this stage. What makes you think she's that good? At 6'2" Morgan would be a huge PG. She has effectively been playing PG for Mitty this season. I wonder if she has the quickness for the position at D1. She reminds me of a quicker Caroline, but that doesn't mean she's quick enough.Leadership, can post up, shoot 3's and play point. She is excellent in all phases of the game. A bigger Sabrina Ionescu. Cheli could play PG at a lot of top 25 schools. Her quickness is adequate while her passing, ballhandling, and leadership/smarts are excellent. She's a much different player than Ducharme, a better passer, ballhandler, and rebounder. Plus a much better defender. She won't be needed as a PG at UConn but could easily play it in case of injuries. At 6'2" Morgan would be a huge PG. She has effectively been playing PG for Mitty this season. EricLA- - -If we could just stay healthy for a full season + we will have enough talent to win a National Championship or 2!When? You really think we have a shot this year? No way. Or, have a " short" (hah, 6' 2"), Sarah Strong decide to come to Storrs. Go HUSKIES! COME, SARAH!Can you say "Addition of Big Forward or Center via the Transfer Portal" !!!
