Alex Karaban is BACK

Lack of point guard play and Liam's injury hurt AK the most. He simply isn't a #1 and trying to throw him into that role hurt AK and the team performance. With Solo, Silas, Tarris...AK can go back to his role of being a great connector, cutting to the rim, hitting open threes, doing all the little things.
How many times this past season did he have the ball in his hands late in the shot clock and was forced to try and create his own shot (or drive into the lane hoping for the best but often getting a bad result). That's simply not his game. He's a guy you feed for spot-up 3's or feed the ball on cuts to the hoop. And sprinkle in some post-up game against smaller lineups. With hopefully (knock on wood) superior PG play next season, Karaban should be able to revert back to his role he had in his Frosh/Soph seasons being a secondary/tertiary scoring option and filling up the stats sheet from 3 and also in the paint.

I expect him to challenge for a 50/40/90 season again.

Yeah in his demented dreams he had it first. That guy is a joke. @temery Can we make sure going forward that any Zanetto links are automatically deleted. I know I won't post anything more from him. I won't even listen to him for humor after this last debacle of awful reporting.
What's funny is if Alex had stayed in the draft he still would have had it first

He'll still get his shot to play in the NBA, but probably the thoughts of grinding in the G-league and possibly never even making it up to the Show next year weighed on him. When the other option is to stay at the place you love, have a chance to win another natty, and maybe even more more money via NIL.

Hopefully he has a strong senior season and some team will give him a guaranteed contract next year, even if he's still a 2nd round pick. If you are 6'8 and can shoot 40% from 3, you'll at least get a chance to prove yourself.
Alex's B+ to A game is NBA worthy. He really struggle with his shot quite a bit last season. If he simply improves his consistency with his outside shot and incrementally improves in all other areas of his game, he should be able to improve his draft position.

He showed a lot capability at times to have slipped into the end of the first found, but simply had some brutal stretches and a decline in the latter part of his season the sealed his fate. I'm hopeful that he'll play himself back into the first round or at least top of the 2nd, playing up to what he's capable of.

Happy for UConn but sad for Alex, as not sure NBA is in his future. Win a 3rd ring, play some pro ball and come back to coach UConn in 10 years. Life is good!
Even if NBA is not in his future, which remains to be seen, Alex could still have long career like Gavin Edwards.

Who is S.J.?
When you put S.J. in there I guess on the phone someone who wanted to mentioned St. John's actually mentioned Samson Johnson in one of their posts. I haven't had that problem but I always use St. John's and type on my computer.

Can we have the Boneyard autocorrect Zanetto to "bozo" or some other clown-themed nickname? The guy needs to just go crawl into a hole and not show his face publicly.

Alex had trouble getting clean shots at times, well covered. Picture Silas setting him up much better and I think we see him improved from 3.
