In the chat and threads there has been a lot of calls for him to stop shooting. People feeling bad for him. People saying his head is not right or that he lost his nba shot.

He is still shooting when he gets a good look and he wants to go the line at a big moment even if he hadn't been that guy this year from a conversion standpoint. He doesn't care about any of that noise.

We are quick to do this to our favorite guys and it's corny. We did it to AJax, and Hawk, and Hass, and Sanogo, and Joey C etc.

But he keeps shooting. And he should. Because he knows what he can do.

(BTW, he has been doing some great things outside of shooting 3s)

I'm still on that Karavan

The Karaban hate is ridiculous. Man was a key piece in back to back championships lol. How quick the fanbase is to forget and turn on him is sad

I get he's been in a slump but he could just as easily end it at any moment

I don’t hate Karaban and I think he does a lot of good things for UConn, but his shooting is brutal. Maybe he should have a yellow light from deep until he warms up. The two choices are not fire away from deep or cut him.

Ideally yes but I don't know if you can warm up with a yellow light. If you're purposely gonna police yourself then when do you give yourself the green light? It's one of my favorite talking points when it comes to stars in slumps though.

He is trying, maybe too hard, to contribute to the team. And, his shot will start falling and UConn will become much harder to beat. For the first time in a few games, I thought Karaban took really good unrushed 3s and I hoped they would fall, but they didn't.

Kid needs help. He’s a very good shooter and missing critical free throws now in 2 games that he could make with his eyes closed, ought to be a clear signal something is going on. Feeling bad for AK is a sign of respect not hate.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like. it. He has been a 40% three point shooter his entire career. And now he can't throw a ball into the ocean.

He is something like 3-47 from the arc. It's beyond a slump, it's wrath of god kind of stuff. Twilight Zone. Larry Bird used to say if I make one I shoot until I miss and if I miss I shoot until I make one. But there is only one guy who can help Alex. Be nice to see a few go though for him.

The shot will comeback. Do you think that his coaches have analyzed his release pre and post slump to see if anything has changed? Of course they have and chances are that it hasn’t changed but if it did they would be all over it.
And Alexis probably over working his shot practice.
The shot is coming.

That dude has been logging a ton of minutes in Liam's absence and when he is on the floor, he is expected to do a lot of things in addition to scoring. I just think his 3 ball is sapped by dead legs. Unfortunately, UCONN is in the meat of the schedule and there is a situation at PG. So rather than get some well earned minutes on the bench, he plays on.

It's like he's been cursed. He was firing those 3 threes in a row last night because Hurley called him out on the sideline of the St. John's game last week. People can critique the misses if they want, but they better give him his dues for the hustle plays he makes. He made a few critical rebounds around Kalkbrenner last night with put backs and he was the first one on the floor on the loose ball at the end of the game where they called out of bounds on Creighton and we kept possession. Also gave Kalkbrenner 7 or 8 minutes of hell when Johnson and Reed were on the sidelines in foul trouble.

Karaban is not a #1. It's really as simple as that.

Our ball penetration has been poor, especially with the Diarra injury, which allows the defender to stick to Karaban for the kickout. In addition, our guards are just smaller and a little slower off screens because of the larger defenders.

But, McNeeley will revert to being the number 1 priority for opposing defenses.
Defenders can't contain the drive, roll, and 2 kickout potentials at the same time...

I imagine Karaban's numbers are going to rise significantly in the near future.

Shooters have to keep shooting. His coaches and teammates want him to keep shooting. Get in the gym and get the confidence back(which he will do). Need his leadership for the stretch run. Seton Hall is a great game for him to see the ball go in the hoop . Liam will continue to create gravity/space away from AK for more open looks.

Nothing wrong with lunch pail buckets in the paint.

You’d think but his 0-7 last night were all premium shots, good looks. Feels like a breakout game against the Hall is a spoon full of sugar.

Karaban's misses have pretty much all been off the top of the rim. It's not like he's airballing or throwing it off the backboard. You would think he would at least get a lucky bounce off the rim and have one go in.

He may not care what we think, but he cares too much about what he thinks, because the voices in his head are making the rim feel like a moving target. The free throw miss, woof. Kid needs to clear his mind.
Maybe talk to Aaron Rodgers about a darkness retreat?
