Albany game thread

Baskets in the Paint Final
Albany 9 (4-2-2-1)
UConn 28 (10-7-6-5)

On balance, this was a very nice 1st game of the tournament against a gritty team. It can only help against whichever team they face next. A little sluggish to start, but the Huskies finished strong.

This team just tied the school record for most points scored in an NCAA Tournament game. The 1999-2000 Huskies also scored 116 points in their first-round win against Hampton.

If that's a typical Hughes color commentary day then let's have more of him. Fine analysis, knowledgeable color, and knows the game and the players. He and Eric get an A from me.

Yeah definitely better than what we normally get

Great opening performance after shaking off some rust. Many players had moments to shine and we stayed healthy. All you can ask for.

I hope Nat is earning some trust from the coaches to give some first half minutes if Collier/Williams/Samuelson pick up early fouls. As we saw in first half when Collier was out (not to mention Tulane) she needs to be on the floor in the 2nd half when game is being decided.

Thanks. Mike just asked me that. I thought one of the 2000-02 teams approached 120.

Andy Landers talking about how UConn passes well because they know and understand where and what the options are and which are coming up next on offense. That my friends is Geno who teaches them the number of options from every offense position. That my friends is because Geno is the best offensive coach in CBB.

seed for this team is absurd.

Albany deserved a lot better from the so-called committee. WCBB gets the absolute worst zebras, and that apparently extends to the selection committee members as well. A room full of third graders could have done a better job.

Nat had a good game today. 8 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks, 0 misses.
