Yeah, if we're like 6-20 and they're like 14-34, that would start to become uncomfortable, but it's around there. Short of that we should be fine.

If we're 7-22 and they're 12-36, we're fine.
If we're 5-18 and they're 9-28, we're fine.
If we're 9-28 and they're 16-45, we're fine.

If we make it to opening tipoff we're fine.

Bama averages 11 3s per game as is
It's not the 3's, imo. You look at that Bama shot chart and they have all these red dots under hoop, hardly any red circles. That's not happening to UConn.

The challenge will be the long rebounds - but yes, I think UConn can hold their own.
Our guards are exceptional rebounders, which makes their commentary about us not being particular tall especially ridiculous.

Yes, we "only" go 6'8 at the 4 and 6'6 at the 3, but our guards dwarf theirs, and that's going to matter more than some guy having 2 inches on Karaban.

Let's see their 3 point percentage in a football stadium
With UConn chasing them off the 3-point line and daring them to see if Donovan Clingan can block 1,000 shots.

They should have asked some NBA people about ranking the starters in the final 4. We would have had # 1 and 2 and possibly the top 5

Twenty years ago Bama was woofing that they could outrun us. They could not.
Time really does fly. Feels like yesterday watching the 04 squad dominate Alabama with BG going berserk, I remember exactly where I was etc. Can't wait to replicate that feeling saturday night!

I know it's tempting to get into it with opposing fans online, but there's no upside - I leave that crap for non-blue blood programs. I'll bet the majority of Alabama fans haven't seen a single UConn game all season, let's hope we give them an education Saturday night.

I remember, too. I remember the guy saying UConn would get run out of the gym.

Add this to the wall of disrespect. Castle the 13th of 20 FF starters:

Lol.

Here's EvanMiya's statistical ranking of the whole country. There's not a UConn starter outside of the Top 24, and Hass is 34.

7. Newton
13. Castle
14. Spencer
24. Karaban
33. Estrada
34. Hass Diarra
41. Sears

160. Nelson
206 Michael O'Connor
222. Kaufman-Renn

So per actual metrics our entire starting lineup and our sixth man are better than the entire Alabama roster

Think we played them last year. Easy double digit win and we cover, and they hit number 1 but we won the title

Pretty sure Arkansas thought that last year too, and Illinois this year.

Everyone has a plan, then we punch them in the mouth. They just have no idea, bless their hearts

I think an important game factor will be long rebounds on their missed threes leading to frequent transition offense for us.

I think the key to us winning is 26-28 minutes with Clingan on the court and getting a high percentage of their 3 pt misses

2 quick Donovan fouls turns this game into high risk. ( I have more fear of bama than most posters do)

Castle & Diarra will handle Sears

Hopefully Grant Nelson helps us out by picking up fouls that put him to the bench.

Nate Oates has a lot of respect for our team. He said he expects pace of play to be faster than Clemson, maybe close to the UNC pace they played. He acknowledged we have no fear to run, but are perfectly comfortable running never ending sets if the opponent gets back in transition. Skip the first few minutes and he gets into it.

Took a look at the last 6 Alabama games - they were 2 and 4 to end the season not good. Nelson fouled out in 3 of them, had 4 fouls in 2 and 3 in one game so he does foul a lot. The other thing I noticed is that they only scored three times in the 70s the rest were 80s and above. Crappy SEC defense or really good Alabama offense we shall see

If Oats asks Nelson to D up Clingan one-on-one, he’s going to have at least four fouls again. He's about the same size as Coleman Hawkins but a worse defender.

I’ve said it before here but to me this is the biggest coaching decision for Oats. If Nelson is trying to D up Clingan, a) he’s going to be put in a body bag, and b) he’s almost certainly going to be limited by foul trouble. And any remaining guys on their bench that have a prayer of defending Clingan are not floor spacers at all. If Clingan gets to sit in the lane for half the game on defense, not only is this game over but it’s a laugher.

Tell them they were lucky to catch Cincinnati while they still had Saban. They aren't going to be so fortunate next time (you can leave out that it will be in the year 2525).
