Another big part of my childhood is no more, Mad Magazine great Al Jaffee has died at 99 (!). He did almost 500 of his fold-in and the last one comes out next week. That will be Mad's issue of all new material so in effect Al and Mad will have died within days of each other. Mad had a great run. Gave me many laughs I still remember.

Clearly, I grew up ( or didn't grow up) on MAD.

Great magazine which we used to pass around in the college dorms. This was the precursory comedic style that spawned much of the satirical social-political commentary that we see today. I especially loved the movie title parodies such as "Botch Cassidy and the Some-Dunce Kid"...

It was unrivaled for many years. Around 1970 Natlamco came out and was a hit with college kids like me( and unlike me too). I still remember the cover that said buy this magazine or we'll shoot this dog. Sick and hilarious and so disrespectful made it must read stuff.
