He recently started getting calls from a UNC assistant. The talk recently has been that he grew up a UNC fan, and would commit pretty quickly if UNC offered. Shortly after those discussions started, someone close to the kid started posting over on one of the UNC boards.
The question is really what happens next with UNC? He won't get an offer until Roy Williams scouts him personally. UNC has one spot left in their 2014 class and it is for a shooting guard. Rashad Vaughn, Devon Booker, and D'Angelo Russell all have offers and don't seem to be in any rush. Would Roy Williams offer him knowing he would likely commit quickly and wrap up the recruiting class early? Has Hill demonstrated himself to be on that same level as the guys who already have offers?
I'm of the opinion he is not on the same level as Vaughn or Booker, but is on par with Russell. He has been up and down in the EYBL, and I'm not even sure if he scored in double figures more than once last weekend. His team didn't qualify for the Peach Jam, so Roy Williams won't even get to see him at that event. How he plays this July in front of Roy will be a major factor in how this plays out. If he plays well, I could see him getting an immediate offer. If he plays how he has throughout the EYBL, I could see Roy putting him on the backburner with a slower recruitment and waiting until the better guys make their choices. I've gotten the impression Hill will wait for the UNC offer if he thinks it will eventually come.
