Ahmad Nowell article is laughable

Absolutely nothing against Ahmad Nowell. But I’m pretty happy where we ended up.
Definitely. I mean, if he stayed, you're obviously hoping for a big jump in year 2 and that he stays healthy. But there wasn't much from last year to give you much hope, honestly. He averaged less than 6 minutes per game in the 18 games he did play in and was ultimately a complete non-factor. 19 of his total 27 points on the season came in the 5 games against absolute garbage opponents in November.

How much did Tasheed pay to have that article written lmao

I keep seeing how "bad" he was, but I'm not on X/Twitter. Was it really that bad, or just enthusiastic?

Expertise: WNBA, NBA, NFL, NCAA

I’m constantly reminded that journalists can at times not know sh about the subject which they’re writing. Good friend of mine worked for Golf Digest for 10 years and wrote about nothing but golf obviously, but decided he wanted a change. Ended up working for a newspaper where he wrote about golf…..investments… in the business section of the paper. Never took any business courses, never had any interest in it, never had any money to invest bc he was also a gambler. But he wanted out of Golf Digest. Long story short, he ended up getting laid off in a year because I think people caught onto his lack of expertise on anything investment related. But he is a constant reminder that anyone can write anything about anything, even in fairly reputable publications, and not know a thing about it other than what ‘the Google’ has to say.

Not here to rag on Nowell because I was a fan of his throughout the season, but this is a funny article

"As a four‑star prospect and a top-40 national recruit, many assumed he would quickly blossom into a cornerstone of the Huskies' backcourt."
  • With Diarra returning and Mahaney transferring, I'm not sure how many people he'd "quickly" blossom. This was always going to be a multi year thing, forced to expedite after Mahaney didn't work out
"While there were flashes of brilliance in his lone freshman year at UConn, the overall picture was one of unfulfilled potential."
  • Flashes of "brilliance" is not true, but you'll find a lot of posts from me (especially early season) praising Nowell. There were flashes of potential, but brilliance is......generous lol
"With more consistent playing time ahead and a fresh environment, Nowell’s transfer serves as a win for VCU and a wake-up call for UConn."
  • What is the wake up call?
"As the Huskies prepare for the future, questions abound about how they will fill the void left by Nowell"
  • The void was filled 10x over when Silas Demary committed almost 2 weeks before the article was written, and filled even more a few days ago with Malachi Smith. Exaggerating for puff pieces is one thing and everyone does it, but this quote makes it very clear this writer knows absolutely nothing about what he is writing about lol

Given how we know the void was filled that last point is either sour grapes or wishful thinking.
