Almost every B1G school has s NYC presence. Not so sure with ACC

The strong ACC academic schools have a solid presence in NYC with Duke way out in front, which explains why Duke tries for a NYC game at least once a year; but, they are somewhat irrelevant in football. UNC, Virginia both have a solid NYC foothold. BC and Pitt have small presences. ND and Syracuse are obviously huge. Oddly, where I live in NJ, I do see a lot of Clemson decals for some reason.

Either way, UConn is a key swing vote. ACC has an edge right now over the B1G in NYC due primarily to Syracuse, ND, and Duke over the B1G's Rutgers and Penn State due plus the Michigan alumni network. UConn would be the deciding factor.

As long as we are talking about a positive game day atomospere I agree. Its a good signal. A better signal would be fire PP or at least Deleone, in the wake of that dismal offensive showing.
I didn't see the game as it was regional and my carrier doesn't support ESPN3. I do know you can't rush for 49 yards and win.
I follow the game through a statistical broadcast. Getting my feel of the game through the BY.
So forgive me if I couldn't feel the atomspere.
I also hate losing. You could take the boy out of the valley but you can't take the valley out of the boy.

Let's stop with the "or at least GDL" horse crap. Firing the OL coach won't get things turned around and will just burnish our image as half-assed and indecisive. Pasqualoni kept the guy on. Warde firing GDL won't make PP any smarter or a better decision maker. Every day the hole gets deeper and we have to fill it in before we can begin to build. Why we ain't startin' today baffles me.

When your family has a reunion, do they give you the right address?

I have no family. I am an orphan. My only family now is the Boneyarders. So when is the reunion and where?

The coaches got a reprieve Saturday because we stayed competitive on the field and had a fantastic crowd. It was a "great" loss. (could of been a magnificent win, but we still need an offense.) I think we made ourselves relevant in any P-5 conference expansion discussion. One game at a time, though. PP and his staff have to get us ready for Buffalo and we have to win.
Otherwise, the night Big Blue came to town will become a distant memory.

Agree, UConn has to have a similar atmosphere at the Rent when Louisville (not going, I picked catching UConn/Maryland at Barclay's in hoops instead) and Rutgers (going) come to town and be competitive with both plus away at Cincinnati, which are our 'main' rivals for football supremacy in the AAC right now. We also need to win the games we should, such as Towson (argh!), Buffalo, and the rest of the AAC. History says that our defense will get it's act together. Less hopeful about our offense.

The first people I saw leave were at the end of the first quarter. I saw some families with little kids leaving around the half. People started to trickle out when it was 21-14 and a fairly decent amount left at 21-21.
The first person I saw leave early was the kid sitting next to me. He had his head down and looked like he was about to lose his lunch. I was not too upset about that UConn fan leaving early.

you couldn't have been at the game... that stadium was packed right down to the wire.

So nobody left at all? The people that were exiting the gates directly under my seats were apparitions or ghouls of some type.

Not everything is literal. Stop looking for fights. It gets old

Well when someone says one person left and the response is that couldn't be true - is there any way to interpret that but literally?

I sat in section 222. I would say the crowd was at 95% up until the turnover on downs late in the 4th. I really question if you were at the game if you are making the suggestion that people were leaving when it was 21-21.
not even sure what the angle is except to paint an untrue picture of the crowd.

I sit directly on top of the gate. People left in the first quarter. At halftime. At 21-14. 21-21. 24-21. There were some people who left while people were still coming in. I'm not sure why you are so defensive about it. A lot them had Michigan crap on.

If you'd like to pretend no one left the game that's fine. It's wrong, but it's fine.

If you'd like to believe there were only 6-8k Michigan fans at the game that's fine too. Also wrong, but knock yourself out.

Well I am not totally sure he left the stadium. He could have been hugging a toilet in the men's room. He never returned to his seat though. Hell the way he looked he could still be there.

Almost every B1G school has s NYC presence. Not so sure with ACC teams. Plus UConn is an easy destination from most Midwestern cities. It can also br coupled with with other easily accessable sites into a long weekend. We have a compactness that make us attractive.
30 years of entertaining mid- western visiters taught me they love the ocean, fresh sea food. Little Italian eateries were also a favorite. Some even loved the big city experence of New York or Boston . Only in Ct could you do that and still see a football game. Heck you could stay at the casinos, gamble, take a ride to Newport and see a great game. The possibilities for entertainment are endless.
If we were in the B1G it would become a favorite destination for a family football weekend.
Living out west has given me a different perspective of the things that are positive about my old state.

A lot of the Michigan people I talked to took the whole week off and toured the coast down through Canada and hit places along the way.

Reading the ESPN comments which are now on Facebook the Mich. fans said the stadium was small but very nice and the fans were cordial and very supportive of their team. The game had a nice atmosphere. In other words, they liked it.

UConn fans run the risk of being overly pessimistic on other sites. We are far from homers, running down the team a lot more than other fans believe the team deserves. It's a matter of perception. Other fans do not realize how truly bad Pasqualoni is.

Sean McDonough, for instance, was afraid to rag on his pal Pasqualoni when Spielman ripped him for the punt return on the end of the half. They left it at that. If that were anyone else, they'd have ripped him a new one.

Does anyone know if Michigan's AD and/or Prez made the trip? I'd like to know their thoughts on the atmosphere/game and UConn in the B1G.

Would love for a reporter to ask Delany about how he feels about UConn post that game. I know we lost, but we were competitive and the atmosphere was great IMO.

Michigan's Prez is on the way out, so probably irrelevant. Don't know about the AD.

Yeah losing to Michigan was a great way to bounce back from losing to Maryland and Towson.

What an amazing moral victory.

There are no moral victories, and you don't prove you belong in a power conference by almost beating a team that's not nearly as good as people thought they'd be.

UConn has a TON of work to do before we can show that as a football program, we're ready for anything better than the AAC.

This thread is just silly.

True, there are no moral victories. But, UConn are much better now, than you were at the outset of the season. Its a world of difference. The team has picked up its play considerably since opening week.

The upcoming schedule is favorable. Buffalo, USF, and, Cincinnati are all winnable games for you. Get back to 3-3, and, go forward from there. I believe this team are better than what they've shown. Heres their chance to show it.

All we had to do when Edsall left was hire the right freaking coach. If we did that, we'd probably be in the ACC next year.

I will note for the record that the first people I saw sneaking out (though there weren't many) were Michigan fans. It was right after they tied the game at 21???

I also take minor solace that any Michigan fans traveling back to the NYC area had to deal with I-84W being closed at the CT border.

Why was 84 closed at the border??
