Carl mentions that MJ and MT arrive for summer session #1 on June 4. Breanna comes on June 13. I believe that there are age-group tryouts for USABasketball
in mid-May for which these three are eligible....maybe KML too.

I hope our kids get invites and learn from those high level tryouts.
A summer of international ball....one summer session at UConn to get a head
start on academics and training and bonding....plus toss in some R and R....sounds good to me.

BTW: in another article from yesterday's JI The Dean says that Geno and Pat exchanged hugs at some point during the Olympic coaching gathering.

They jump right in. Graduate and off to UCONN the next day. And Breanna gets here before she graduates. I'm liking the commitment already. :)

Note:

USABasketball tryouts for 17U: May 17-20. Tournament for this team in Amsterdam
August 17-26. I'm assuming this group would largely be from the high school classes
of 2013 and 2014....Diamond...Brianna Turner [the stud soph from Texas who played on the same
AAU team as Moriah] et al. Hey....toss in Ossining's Saniya Chong!

USABasketball tryouts for 18U: May 18-21. I'm sure there will be lots of scrimmaging and interaction
among the 2 groups. I wonder if all of our incoming frosh are eligible....plus KML....plus Kiah...plus
Brianna?

Would it be too much to ask that at least ONE of them gets homesick? Maybe Jefferson? ;)

I understand that MoJeff has several family members in Newark, Delaware. Everyone knows that UDel is the school for homesick kids. ;)

hopefully they take some time off - partly to relax and get ready, and partly to practice on their own and work on their games (whatever they think they need to work on)... i remember Geno saying that kids play too much basketball year round and don't spend enough time "practicing". i know the 3 are uber-talented, but kids always say they are surprised at how much harder it is than they imagined...

Like KML before her, Morgan is a very articulate person whom the Horde should love.

Morgan on her classmates:

“Moriah’s a quick player, a great point guard. She’s vocal. And Breanna, she’s just the best in the country.”

Moriah has such a great smile and outgoing personality. Can't wait to see her in a UConn uniform!

Dream on, ETT.

Jefferson has stated her desire to go to college at somewhere not located in the Lone Star State, so she is the least likely to get homesick.

Tuck is smart enough to know UConn is the place for her professional training. She's coming to UConn with a purpose; she's not going to bail.

Stewart's a piddling 275 miles from her dorm room to home. That doesn't work, either.

Baggerbob, I skimmed a lot of your post and stopped reading near the end because it's so hard to read without punctuation, at least. Paragraphing would be nice, too.

Everyone, what struck me in Adamec's article is how often the recruits played with current UConn players in their high school careers, and how often they've played with or against one another. Makes me wonder if recruiting is done more by the current players than Geno, CD, Shea, Marisa.

Well, wait until winter. And by then she will have gone months without Tex-Mex food!

All in jest, of course. I wish her a successful (but not too much) and happy career at UCONN. Hated to see her leave the state.

When KML signed her LOI (which she did very early in the recruiting process) some sportswriter asker why she committed so early. KML's reply (with a smile) was:

"So I can recruit the kids I want to play with for the next four years."

You can bet your last dollar that KML's friendships with other recruits have played a big role in attracting Bre, Morgan, and Mo.

The USA Basketball Tryouts and tournaments bring to a common stage nearly all of the kids who are high on Geno's favorites list.

This is the first mention of Chong I 've seen on this board in quite a while.
Did she have a bad game?
Are folks losing interest?

I hope she gets busy on the 2013 crop soon.

I think it is simply a function of the high school season being over.

I did see Saniya play in mid-March in the NYS tournament....they lost in the semis to
Cicero [Breanna] by a lot. Breanna was a tad impressive going for 42/23. Ossining was undefeated going in
with some wins over solid NYC teams....they got off to a horrible start against Cicero....down 29-6 after one quarter...
never recovered.

Saniya looked like a very talented guard....pretty tall...quick and fast...good handle. She had a very rough first quarter
but from that point on played pretty well....wound up with 21. I hope UConn and Saniya are still looking at each other
seriously....she has considerable upside.
