“It always felt like home here,” Auriemma’s wife, Kathy, said. “We never felt like we needed to go anywhere else. Everything seemed right here and we were very grateful. He didn’t care about the facilities. He looked way past that, and thank God. Maybe that is why he gets kids today. All those years he recruited kids, he recruited the type of kid who didn’t care about that either. It has always been about who you are going to see in the gym every day and who you are working with and who you are playing with. Really at the end of the day, that is what matters. I think it paid off that we had that mindset.”
