Adama Sanogo signed to Utah’s Summer League roster

I thought his numbers were good when Chicago had him playing on their roster. Am I wrong about this? He was rebounding at a high clip and getting putbacks etc.

And his "tweener" status really shouldn't keep him on the bench. He should be coming off the bench to the tune of at least 10 minutes a game. The guy has skills and an unbeatable work ethic-the guy can play. Like I said before, Sanogo won't be an All-NBA team guy, an All-Star guy, or a regular starter, but he can definitely be productive player off the bench, no question.

I think this is a case of NBA GMs sticking to certain ideas and preconceptions.

That's why I think he made a mistake staying with Chicago last year. The first two years showed that they had no interest in him being on the NBA roster. He should've gone somewhere different just to see if there was a path to that franchise's NBA roster. But it may also be time to head abroad if he can find a spot on one of the strong teams/leagues.

He was one of the better players on their G League roster. But he got injured and they waived him right after

I thought he got into a few games there and played well, last year or the year before. Maybe someone was injured or something.
 
Feel bad for Sanoga. A popular, talented leader on a Championship team, his timing couldnt have been worse with regards to NIL. He left just as NIL was ramping up. Then, had bad luck trying to catch PT in the NBA. Maybe he should put up big numbers and get paid overseas as the path to get an NBA contract. More and more players are choosing that path (e.g., Yabusele). He deserves to be on a NBA roster.
 
Sanogo was a terrific college player who could probably put up numbers in the league if given a chance. Unfortunately, his skillset and body type translates poorly to the modern NBA, and as a result his market is going to be very limited even when he's outplaying his competitors.

It's a good example of why I try to remind people that the NBA is not necessarily the best 350-400 basketball players in the world. It's maybe half of the best players and then a hodge-podge of guys who fit or look like they could eventually fit.

He did have a monster 20pt/20reb game his rookie year, but it was in a throwaway game at the end of the season

In minimal games/minutes, he does play well - 3 PPG, 3 RPG in 7 minutes per game on his career. The per 36 numbers look great on that, but it's mostly been garbage time or meaningless games. Unfortunately as a 6'9 C that plays a low post playstyle, it's VERY hard to stick in the league

Ime Udoka is supposed to be the C's coach. Man did they screw that up
 
I would have been so stoked to have Sanogo on Stars of Storrs, but this is obviously way better.
 
Just loved the young man's work ethic. Hope he finds what he is looking for. Europe is an interesting thought but I'm not familiar with the style being much different than the NBA.
Seems like a lot of "Big" European players who come here are even less low post orientated than the states.

I think it’s just a matter of lower overall competition plus many more potential landing spots that makes Europe a viable option.
 
I thought he signed a contract with Chicago . Sanogo as a foreign student couldn’t get NIL ( same issue with edey) . Probably time to head off to Europe .
 
Lack of rim protection hurts him big time, there's a ton of centers in the league that don't have his offensive ability.

Last season in the G League, he shot 41% from 3 on just over an attempt per game. I thought maybe the improved perimeter game would get him a shot, but then he got hurt.
 
Doesn't help when he got 5 fouls in 15 minutes vs Memphis.

Meanwhile check out Cam's stats:

29 min, 7-14 FG, 7-10 3P, 2-2 FT, 6 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 5TO, 5 Fouls.

Mixed it up, shot 50% overall, 70% on 3s, 23 pts overall. Story was all about Bailey though.
