What I take from this... UM will wind up not paying 50 million but some intermediate figure. How close to 50 might determine whether UConn blows up the ACC (I'm still thinking FSU stays put... for now).

Hmmm, so they didn't wait until MD brought suit in the Md courts? Interesting ....

Well I'm confused. Wouldn't there have to be a breach or intended breach of the contract to justify or warrant a suit? Was Maryland supposed to cut a check yesterday? Really strange.

Tell you what. Maryland gets out of that exit fee or gets it significantly reduced the ACC is in a world of hurt.

UConn doesn't 'blow up the ACC'.

People need to stop parroting message board nonsense as if it's fact.

I'm sure UMD is going to get all due consideration in a Greensboro court. Bet the judge is a UNC/UNC law graduate or possibly a Dukie.

This......this is the whole ball game.

ACC needs Maryland to pay $50M, or pretty damn close, or it gets real ugly real quick.

From the comments in this thread, it would seem that UNC is leading the way with the lawsuit - is there any evidence to support this? If this is true it should quiet the UNC rumors, that is, unless MD wins and pays much less than 50. I'd guess and put the tipping point at 30 mil.

You're assuming the ACC exit fee doesn't work because the ACC filed a lawsuit to compel its payment?

they voted against it and swofford left no time for schools to leave, he tried to pull a fast one. it wont hold up.

the b12 gor is not held by the b12 offices. those media rights are held by espn and fox w/e the split is $ wise. when 8 of the 10 schools leave for the pac or sec like i have guessed in another post. espn and fox will allow them to do so becuase they will still own the rights to those schools. that allows fox a very small amount of media rights into the sec contract and espn a decent amount of rights into the pac contract. soemthign that oth networks didnt have before. the gor is a false and will b exposed just like the acc fee will be.

It wasn't supposed to keep Maryland from leaving. Only to make Maryland pay $50 large on the way out.

I'll weigh in -- I doubt the ACC would win if they litigated the issue to the end.
