The word "challenge" is inappropriate when discussing WCBB in the B1G.

Just my opinion, of course.

Most of the schools are very large with lots of on campus students (potential fans), lots of school spirit, and excellent facilities stemming from the football and men's basketball programs. What is required to wake the giant? That's a topic for another thread.

There are only two remotely interesting games on the schedule, well maybe 1.5. Maryland vs a top 25 Nebraska on the road... and the Penn State @ Miami. The Miami game is interesting in that they have the second longest home winning streak in the country... and probably will come to an end that night.

The only things interesting about Duke at Michigan...are how long will the starters play for Duke... and will the final margin be 20-30 points... or over 30.

We Big East fans are thrilled because if they're doing ACC/Big 10 games they won't be doing our games.

Isn't better coaching the obvious answer? Coquese is certainly the best of the lot, and the youngest as well, I believe.. Let's see if KBA can shake things up a bit.

Actually, although most of the teams are mediocre, their games usually
have been quite competitive and often fun to watch IMO.

First - unfortunately, Meyers has not stopped inflicting herself (speedoo's words) on folks. Although I only heard her on one broadcast, I specifically read an article that her job discription in Pheonix was changed to enable her to pursue additional broadcasting.

Second - I have mentioned before that I think the style of play in the BiG is unique to it (I have said, and some have agreed, that each conference has a "style of play" that is at least slightly different than the others) and perhaps it hampers the conferences success in the pre-season and more importanty, the post season. Most of the teams generally play a fairly aggressive OOC schedule and IIRC the conference did have a better record than in prior years.

I agree with ed4 that the in-conference games were often competative and interesting.

I think there are some interesting match-ups in there. Georgia Tech at Purdue will be hotly contested. Both should be good teams next year and I think GT coach Machelle Joseph is the all-time leading scorer at Purdue. Maryland at Nebraska will be a tough one. I think it was two years ago, Miami got blown out at Nebraska and that Miami team featured two 1st round WNBA picks. Nebraska has most of it's team back from last season and they were pretty good. Duke will likely crush Michigan. Not sure Michigan returns much from last year's team and Duke has about everyone back.

They are a sleeping giant. And I don't expect them to wake up anytime soon.
