Pope's a good coach. I'm a Hurley guy but Acaden couldn't go wrong on this one
Popes gonna be great. If anything I think he models himself a little around Hurley, both motivationally and in concept. If you haven’t checked out some of the recent videos around the Duke win, you should. Lots of locker room material and strategy shared. He was spot on in anticipating exactly what Flagg was going to do down the stretch, also instructed how to punch the ball away during his dribble drives, which was noticeable.

I think the UK marketing team is onto the fact he’s a smart guy and now taking a lot of it to social media as a way to attract future recruits (like Hurley).

If I had to guess every one of our targets was gonna come to UConn if we prioritized them, could only take so many and staff not willing to snooze on anyone. Lewis, Bundalo, Thomas.

Yes I saw this. When he was hired I thought he was kind of a goofy guy for UK and a step down from Cal. Turns out I just didn't know anything about him

Can you post the links to the videos you are referring to?

I noticed the same thing you did on the conscious effort to dig by the help defenders when Flagg went one on one.

Read this article and thought, another parent running a kid's life. The Dad saying he'd be okay if his son went to UConn. Okay!?? We're back to back champions? Okay?? How about blessed and honored? Also thought the comment about Pope being such a nice guy, I guess in contrary to our maniac, was telling? You know where nice guys finish?... The best coaches my kids or I had were hard coaches. Buddy-buddy coaches don't usually take players to their maximum ability. Sad to hear this. Other than Meleek Thomas, and Mullins Lewis was the #3 player I wanted.

When Calipari stepped away from UK, I thought UK was going to struggle, not because of Pope, but just because he would be so limited in time to refill the roster.

I was definitely wrong on that as he has done a great job refilling the roster with good quality players. Pope is a very good in game strategist and schemer as well. Kentucky will be a force for years to come.

Players make decisions on which school they go to for a variety of reasons which in my opinion or not really anyone else’s business
Perhaps you should consider viewing this as a player who considered uconn, but ultimately decided to go to Kentucky, and be respectful of that decision

The timing of all this is always good to keep in mind. We already had Adams in the fold and Mullins was days away from telling staff he was coming.

Giving up the spot at UConn to go see Kentucky practice sure is a choice. His dad is fortunate all his backup options were bluebloods.

Sounds like Lewis was ready to commit to UConn before Adams announced. So if Lewis had announced for UConn before Adams did would UConn still have taken a commitment from both Adams and Mullins? Hurley sounds infatuated with Mullins so I don't think that one was an either or. Or would they have taken all 3 and then not Furphy? We'll never know but I'm pretty happy with what the Huskies got so no big deal.

yeah it seems like a foursome of Lewis/Adams/Mullins/Reibe works on paper but given the timeline it appears that Lewis and Adams were the either/or. i prefer the bigger lineup of Adams/Mullins/Furphy/Reibe too.

I think it was Lewis or Adams for the point/combo guard role, whichever would commit first. Think Mullins clearly became the first priority after Thomas cooled on us, and Hurley would’ve taken him no matter what.
