I grew up a Celtics fan but I fully admit that I find the NBA almost unwatchable now, much of which I attribute to drafting guys who simply are not ready to play at that level. I agree with Wing-U, htough I'd put it this way, actual basketball talent isn't a consideration any more. Size, and athleticism are way more important. It isn't good for the game either at the college level or at the pro level, but some guys make lots of money.

As an aside, one's opinion of the NBA and whether it is any good or not is I guess a matter of personal taste.

That's your opinion I guess, I just completely disagree. How can you enjoy college basketball, where the players are obviously worse at basketball than NBA players, if you don't think the best in the world can't even play the game?

we're shooting the exact same percentage we shot last year and were ranked 240th overall when we won the national championship. youre not off to a good start, all 9 of your posts have been terrible

Lamb, when are going to call a spade a spade here. Every game, terrible shooting performances. Every week we see players of "lesser" calibre light it up with jump shots, 3's and drive and finishes. Jeremy for the most part has done very little of it.

Lamb's a bad shooter? He's shot the ball better than 50% 14 out of 27 games. Has shot less than 40% in only 8 games. Shoots 34% from 3, 61% from 2, and 82% from the line.

But yeah, he is a bad shooter.

I think the NBA players have freakish athletic ability, absolutley unbelieveable in many cases, but I don't think that makes for a great game, or even a very good one. And I admit that the worst NBA team would beat the NCAA Champsin a blowout every time. But it just doesn't make for much of a game. Players don't know fundamentals, they cover up for it with athleticism. The NBA is almost stylized, every team is the same as every other one. I do like the college game much better. For one thing every game, at least after january 1, is meaningful. You see different styles and different types of matchups. Personal preference i guess.

It isn't just Uconn fans who are calling Lamb a lottery pick, it's everybody: mock draft sites, commentators, etc. Jay Bilas, who has his own Boneyard thread describing how "right" he is on most topics, said last night that he doesn't expect a talent like Lamb to come back to school next year.

I did NOT say Jeremy wasn't a probable lottery pick, I just questioned whether he's a LOCK for a lottery pick. I stand by that. Right now Chad Ford has 30 lottery picks and 70 guys in the first round. There's a lot of basketball to be played and we don't know who else might be coming out. If everybody on Kentucky and UNC declares, for instance, that could drop Jeremy's ranking.

My point is that Jeremy's not Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond -- he has not locked down a certain spot in the top-5 or top-10. He's projected by many to go in the top-10 but projection is speculation. And IF when push comes to shove he's not getting a guarantee in the top-10 or top-14, shouldn't he come back? I say yes. And I'm not one to talk about how players should love the experience of college or improve their game just for the sake of improving it -- I believe (and I think JC believes) that the be-all and end-all of player development is maximizing draft position. Of course if you're a lock for the top-5 there's no need to come back to get to #1 -- that's silly. But there's a difference between #17, say, and #5.

"should" go pro is irrelevant to the college star that will get called early in the draft. If they have indications that they will get selected in the first round, "should" goes out the window.

Its about "will" they go? Fans have no impact in that decision, only the player, family and to a lesser extent the University (i.e. head coach). Its the underclassmen dilemma of our times many may the wrong decision, but the opportunity to make millions is very hard to turn down, especially for those kids who may have been raised in poverty or close to it.

Drummond and Lamb, I think will go pro (ready or not) and I couldn't blame them either way.
