Abraham is in the portal

In Abraham’s case, I think it’s more likely to be the later. I think he is very talented, but of course the true test will be what he does on the court.
Both he and yes, Alex are fully able to return viv a vis the rules. Alex would get paid 7 figures. Money talks. If no dough would flow to Abraham, that is non verbal communication at its portal best.

I always hoped Abraham would become our defensive stopper in the mode of Lyman DePriest or Stephon Castle. It is a role that this team just really needs, someone who can shut down the competition's best scorer. I am surprised Danny didn't groom him for that role.
You have to be here for more than 8 months to accomplish that…

Very disappointed to hear this but how can you blame him? Maybe Dan Hurley was referring to him when he recently said, "I should have played some guys more", but we'll never know.

What impressed me was his per 40 stats: 17.3 points and 6.5 rebounds, with good shooting percentages AND he played within himself when he was on the floor. Not running around pumping up bad shots like JR.
Huh? Any chance to take a shot at Jayden, I guess, who averaged a selfish and undisciplined 2.4 fga per game.

Also, maybe, just maybe Abrahams per 40 #s were aided by playing against horrendous teams backups at the end of games? Also took 6 more shots per 40 then Ross.

This kid really passed the eye test. I don’t care what his 40 minute numbers suggested. He was one of the more impressive kids physically up close when you watched the open practice, great combination of athleticism and skill. Upper body rangy and muscular with a strong lower base for his frame. Picture perfect shooting mechanics.

His issue has to be upstairs - either attitude or toughness. The quote from his dad struck me at really odd, in that he’ll ultimately “figure it out”. I do wonder how much him and AN fed off each other with the playing time, then getting so little while fully reliant on McNeeley. It’s going to be a really interesting to see where he ends up and how his career plays out. My guess is he’ll be a highlight reel with an inconsistent motor.

Stewart coming back. Tried posting it in its own thread but the 30 minute waiting period is on to post threads. Can we turn that off now that UConn's season is over? I'm sure I'm not the first one to post it so we'll probably have multiple posts on this.

In threw it up as soon as came on. Odd rules around here. The principal that runs this school truly hard knocks.

It makes it impossible to talk about any breaking news, which is very annoying. Especially when there's likely to be another 6+ similar instances coming up over the next week

Complain to the boss.

Feels like we lost cory floyd jr 2.0, not losing any sleep

Yes, absolutely. It's not even our offense though. Hurley's defense is VERY high IQ compared to most college teams. I have no idea about individual players, but I'm sure plenty of the talented guys we see on the bench just aren't picking up the schemes.
With this season’s personnel our “high IQ defense” was easy to outsmart and get open threes or layups on.

And I'm not a hoops X&Os guy - but it seems when we make mistakes it is almost always an automatic bucket for the other team. Maybe the defense is too complicated for its own good - but this group this year seemed to struggle with it - although it was better at the end. Not sure if the light switch was being flipped or the effort was better. I'm not smart enough to know.
I think that was one of Danny’s big misses this year was not coming to terms with the fact the defensively scheme did not fit the personnel. Additionally, the foul issues it produced screwed up his rotations and put our opponents in the penalty early.
How many combined fouls per game did Johnson/Reed need to drive those points home?

Something must have happened behind the scenes. Kid looked like a Starter in the summer and then got zero minutes even in garage time. Made no sense.

This was Danny's worst coaching year at UConn. On paper, this team had the talent to be a Top 10 team. Yet, the team never meshed and played with confidence of a Top 10 team. He couldn't figure out the right combinations and right schemes on both ends.

Sometimes it’s difficult to move away from what made you extremely successful under different circumstances (personnel).
Part of the rotation problem was fouls due to the scheme itself given the personnel and not successfully coaching certain players up to avoid the same foolish fouls. In fairness, the players were under a big microscope given personal agenda’s by certain refs against Hurley. But, some guys need to do a much better job not repeating dumb mistakes.

Not a bad list.

Nice list for Isaiah. Probably turn into a good solid player with the opportunity. Beginning of the season it sounded like he was going to get some run, but we never did get a good look at his game.

OMG. Seriously? We fielded a team where we missed on our backup point guard, our back up small forward, and every other guy coming off the bench except for Reid, Jr. Yes this was a coaching staff mistake. But that happens. I am willing to bet my significant yearly wages that this mistake doesn’t happen again. I know that because this staff could have gone off onto the sunset after losing to New Mexico St. and instead, came back to win back to back duck_____ titles. They have earned my duck____ trust. Now shut up and enjoy the rebuilt.

Life isnt fair if you make significant yearly wages.

So glad we could clear up that you have significant yearly wages.
