Abraham is in the portal

Someone mentioned culture fit … I can’t speak to that, but I got to meet him at the football game tent event, and he was one of my favorites. What a solid young man, was really rooting for him.
I haven’t met a Hurley recruit that wasn’t pleasant in person, best of luck to anyone who decides they need a different situation, including Abraham.

I think we'll come to regret this in a couple years. From what I saw in open practices and early season action, this kid has all the tools to be elite.
I’ll point to the overwhelming list of transfers we didn’t regret and not lose a wink on this one.

This felt like an obvious one. Being a developmental type guy in the era of the portal, where you can just go to a lesser program and get immediate PT (and then potentially portal back up a level) feels like a hard sell. Fun athlete to watch though, will be excited to see what he can do at his next stop.

I'm in the camp that thinks he could have been a Whaley. When I saw him in the Paul VI-Monteverde game for the championship last year I thought he had a lot of skills, a very nice jump shot, was an aggressive rebounder and a tenacious defender. Alas, we will see if he shows those skills elsewhere. I would have liked to have seen him on the court a bit more, but the standard rotation is 8 players, and he was 9 or 10.

I actually thought he looked decent in the few minutes he got. More offensively polished than I expected and the frame is a solid wing frame

I feel like there could have been a path to minutes next year and real rotation minutes junior year. If he’s looking for major minutes right now then this is the right move for him. Best of luck!

Do we still have that current scholarship Grid somewhere to keep track as this stuff evolves?

I'm disappointed that I never really got to see him play other than a meaningless minute or two in garbage time. I'm sure in talking with Coach Hurley he likely came to the conclusion that his opportunities here might be limited. Hopefully he'll find a program where he has a greater chance of significant playing time. I can't help but wonder what Hurley felt he was lacking, but I wish him all the best.

I’ll be interested to see his development. There’s really little incentive for a player to be in a developmental role these days. He’ll be best off getting into a situation where he can get a lot of minutes and increase his market value for the following year. Just the way of the world now

Yeah, so far Hurley has been able to keep the right players. Nobody has come back to haunt them. Knock on wood that continues.

Too bad he looked like he had a real good skillset and top notch athlete. Hard to get a chance though with all the players we had in front of him including Jayden Ross who Hurley loved for some weird reason.

I would have liked to have seen Abraham get some minutes here and there this year, but not to be. The fact that he does not see a path to minutes next year playing the 3 or the 4 provides some potential clues as to this off-seasons roster moves.

Can’t blame him- he wants to play ball & he didn’t see the floor
Wouldn’t he have a better chance as a soph second year In system? Unless he goes down a ckass

Mr Discord had Abraham in the portal in like December. Prob in his best interest to drop down a level, get a lot of run, and then cash back in at a better school if all goes well. But I do expect him to get solid P4 + ACC offers out of the gate.
